Following up questions about change jobs in thailand:
my husband currently holds a non b visa 1 year extension working for a company in BKK, valids till 18th oct. Me, holdin Non-o related to it. He is trying to change his work to a company in Koh samui as soon as possible. we are dealing with 2 lawyers now ,one in bkk represents the current company, another one in samui ,represents the new company. there is some confusion and confliction, would like to have your advices.
-can he cancel work permit in bangkok, and apply new work permit on the same day in koh samui, to avoid to go out of thailand
-do we both need to cancel our current visa extensions? as bangkok lawyers are asking us to cancel the visas at the same time as cancel the work permit. But lawyers in koh samui ask us not to cancel the visa, only the work permit, due to language barriers , we could not get explainations of this. what should we do? cancel the visa or only cancel the work permit?
-it sounds extremely stressful situatuion for us. if the 2 lawyers can't coordinate their work about "the same day" . what will happen to us? as technically , we will be risking over stay.
-we can consider to go back to France, and apply all over again, but apparently the WP31 in samui require 1 month to obtain, and it can only be applied when the current work permit is cancelled, so we will be facing to stuck in france at least 1 -1.5 months . but would this be a better solution?
thank you in advance if you can share your insights and advices with us.
I have a non-b visa (90 days) via my present employer. I am hearing nothing but conflicting information about how to eventually change jobs. I'm not sure if my visa is "tied" to my employer and how this might in any way influence what options I have. I'm effectively operating in the dark here and would love to find work in Bangkok but am not sure about what to do or how to proceed. I'd appreciate as much detailed info/discussion as possible regarding this matter. I look forward to talking to anyone and everyone that has reliable and solid advice-knowledge. Thank you!
Hello everyone just needed some quick general advice about switching jobs and my visa. So long story short I work for a school and it’s not working out. I found a new school and they want to attempt to transfer my non b visa over to their school so I can start work. But my old school may not cooperate. (I’m thinking high chance they don’t) Under these circumstances what is the the correct route to take. When I quit my job do I then have 7 days left to stay in Thailand and figure it out? Should I then grab a COVID extension for extra processing time for the new non b? Or should I go to Laos for a fresh visa entirely? Is Laos even open to border runs by air or ground right now? How does all this work? Any general advice appreciated as this is my first job in Thailand and idk what to do.
I have a visa and a work permit, I got a new job and I would like to move, I am just scared my previous company will cancel my current work permit when I move, how easy is it to make a work permit transfer?
Hi everyone, I need some serious advice regarding staying in Thailand over extension (Non-B)
In my case: I have recently resigned from work. My work permit expires on 28.08.2019 and my non-b extension expires on 11.11.2019.
HR department told me they will cancel my work permit on 15.02.2019, and I need to leave Thailand on 23.02.2019 (They sounded flexible). Please note : My passport is with me, never handed over to them after my resignation ( my extension expires on 15.11.2019).
Now my question is : If I stay here two-three months more to find another suitable job would that be a problem ? Has anyone faced any problem similar to my case as immigration rules always changes.
I have googled it but wanted to know real experiences.

Hi there! Ive been trying to find out if this question had been already discuss.. please help.. I'm currently holding a work permit and working visa. I got my working visa in Penang and it will expire on August 2, I'm going to move to another job with another company, my current employer says..my work permit will be cut off right after my last day of working. My question is.. is my working visa will be cut off as well? If yes.. can I get a tourist visa for a week in immigration? Thank you. The new company have provided me the documents for working visa application outside thailand.. my second question is.. can I simply show to the immigration that I have new working contract and documents from the new company, so they will not cut my working visa. I will start to work for the new company on 25 June. Thanks for help..
I successfully applied and received my non-B in Penang a few weeks ago. As luck would have it I have been offered an amazing job at a different school.
I have heard conflicting stories and would love some advice. Am I right in saying the initial Non B is not linked to the school but the extension is? And when I get my work permit would I be able to extend the Non B that I am on now even if it is from a different school?
