Hi everyone,
I'm a teacher who has been living in Thailand for 2 years now. I've switched jobs and would like to know how I can transfer my work permit and visa over to my new employer. The visa coordinator at my new school says that I need to leave the country and come back with a new Non-B and she is suggesting that we wait until the embassy in Thailand and Laos make an announcement about borders opening. Aside from it being a bad idea to travel, I suspect it won't be possible before the July 31st expiration date.
I have heard that visas CAN be switched over internally, and given the shortage of teachers Thai schools are facing, it would make sense to do this. I have no information to prove what I've heard, however. If this is true, could someone refer me to some information about that? Many thanks!
TLDR : Answer Summary
A teacher in Thailand seeking to transfer their work permit and visa to a new employer is advised that while they may need to leave the country under certain circumstances, internal transfers of visas might be viable. However, specific coordination with both employers and immigration is necessary to ensure compliance with immigration rules.
