Could someone tell me the steps to take when changing jobs with regards to the Non-B extension and the Work Permit (without leaving the country)?

The jobs will be in a different city, 1 hour apart from each other.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When changing jobs in Thailand while holding a Non-B extension and work permit, it is crucial to coordinate closely between your current and new employers as well as the immigration office and the Ministry of Labour. You need to cancel your current extension based on your current employment and apply for a new extension based on your new employment. If the new job is in a different city, ensure that both employers are willing to cooperate and that the work is handled through the same immigration office to simplify the process. Be aware that you will also need to obtain a new teaching license if applicable.

I'm going to shut down this post.

1. Teaching license waivers are *NOT* Thai visa related at all. There are countless teaching in Thailand groups that can answer the question.

2. Work permits are only tangentially related to Thai visas. You *CAN NOT* work in Thailand without a work permit. If anyone wants you to work without a work permit, it is illegal.

3. Extensions of Stays *ARE* within the scope of the group. Changing jobs in different provinces inside Thailand without leaving Thailand is possible, but logistically difficult and requires both the current and future employers to work closely together, and the immigration offices willing to work together as well. MAKE SURE both schools are willing to work together before trying to get a new extension of stay. See Tod Daniel's comment above.

You will have to apply for a new teacher's license as you are moving to a different school. This might cause an headache.

I am on my first extension. Does this mean I would have to apply for the second extension even though the first 2 years haven't been fully used yet?

Yes I am afraid so

Would this also be the case If I were on a 5-year permanent license?

@Alex ********
No to my knowledge as you no need to apply for a waiver

you coordinate with the current employer AND the new employer along with the immigration office and the ministry of labour (the work permit people) so you can cancel the extension you're on now based on employment from your current employer and immediately apply for a new extension based on employment from the new employer.

Different cities doesn't matter as long as they use the same immigration office. The minute you switch immigration offices then it doubles the amount of coordination you have to do because you're canceling an extension at one location and applying for a new extension at another one.

So, I would cancel my old extension in the new city.

nope, it's like this

You cancel the extension at the immigration office you got it from THEN you go to the new city and apply for the new extension at the new immigration office.

If you're doing in two different provinces it's gonna mean you and your current employer are gonna go to your immigration office and confirm with them what you're doing AND then you're gonna slog to the new immigration office with the new employer (before you cancel your current extension) and make sure that it will fly applying for a new extension up there.

- So I could apply for a new extension based on employment from the new employer, with an immigration office which is in another city? For example, new job is in Chiang Mai, but get the new extension from an immigration office outside Chiang Mai?

- When do we change the WP?

@Alex ********
no, you apply for the extension at the immigration office where the employer is located
