Hi there! Ive been trying to find out if this question had been already discuss.. please help.. I'm currently holding a work permit and working visa. I got my working visa in Penang and it will expire on August 2, I'm going to move to another job with another company, my current employer says..my work permit will be cut off right after my last day of working. My question is.. is my working visa will be cut off as well? If yes.. can I get a tourist visa for a week in immigration? Thank you. The new company have provided me the documents for working visa application outside thailand.. my second question is.. can I simply show to the immigration that I have new working contract and documents from the new company, so they will not cut my working visa. I will start to work for the new company on 25 June. Thanks for help..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the status of their working visa and work permit after changing jobs in Thailand, specifically if the working visa will be canceled upon leaving their current position, and whether they can successfully apply for a tourist visa in the meantime. Community responses clarify that the working visa will not be automatically canceled if they resign, and suggest strategies for ensuring a smooth transition to a new job without disrupting their visa status.

Ask your old company to cancel 21 days in advance for your visa to have it effective date on the last day your work at the old company. Request work permit book that not yet cancel because work permit belongs to you and not the company to give to new company to adding their company into your work permit. And apply for visa extension based on changing new employer and you will get it extend to match validity date of your work permit. Your old company then can remove their company name off of your work permit on the last working date of the okd company. No need to go abroad.
Hi guys.. I got my 90 days visa from abroad in Penang.. and it will expire on August 2.. I plan to go Penang perhaps on 20th June to apply new working visa Non B ..since the visa I got in Penang has written for my current employer.
that ONLY works IF you're on an extension of stay NOT if you're on the original 90 day entry from the Non-B visa (especially if the visa is company specific from the consulate).
a Visa will not be cancelled if you quit or loose your job. You can stay till the last day of the Admitted to Stay date stamped in your passport on arrival.
As you will be applying for a visa outside Thailand, your new company needs to file a WP3 with the labour office, (an intent to file for a WP later form), you would then take that with you when you go outside Thailand to apply for your new Non-B. Your current permission to stay has no bearing on the WP3 form.
If Ministry of Labor accept your Visa than you will get your Work Permit, if they don't accept it company will use other application form and you get the papers to apply for new visa, and pick up work permit on return. Use it and Ministry of Labor will decide which way to go.
That depends on your visa, some times the visa has Thai text written on it with your Employer details. If this is the case Immigration could refuse to give Extension of Stay with other employer details.
