TLDR : Answer Summary
The user expressed concern about mistakenly booking a 31-day stay instead of 30 days for their trip to Thailand with Turkish Airlines. Comments provided several options, including applying for a tourist visa via the evisa system, paying a minor fine of 500 baht for a one-day overstay at the airport, or getting a 60-day tourist visa before traveling. Many users stated that overstaying by one day is generally not a significant issue, with no severe penalties reported, while some shared personal experiences of having minor overstay consequences.

Not sure what time your flight is, you could go through border control on Day 30 and have an Airport vacation day or just pay the 500
Neil *********
Just pay the fine it's not much

Change the ticket 😉

I inadvertently stayed one day over once, i did a day trip to Vientiane and received a 10 day land crossing visa on my return crossing back into Thailand which reduced the visa grant for my overall stay by one day. I didn't even realize until pulled aside by immigration on my departure.I guess they could see what had happened and made a note in my passport, handed it back to me saying I was free to go with no fine, jokingly saying that I had received a free airport day.

Pay 500 baht at airport when you leave
Terary **********
If you're flight is early enough you can go the day before and wait in the terminal.

Pay one day overstay

Pay the 500 bhat

Take a side trip - Malaysia is only a ferry ride from Koh Lipe

It depends how you count the days, the day you walk through Immigration in Thailand ( not the you start the flight ) is day number 1.

The day you pass Immigration to go home should be day 30 ( not the day you arrive in your homecountry) , and if your flight is at nighttime (00 - 06) you can go through Immigration before midnight
Gordon *******
Cheapest option just go back to the airport and possibly get a 500tb fine for the 1 day !
Steve *******
Extend at your local Immigration Office or get a tourist visa before you leave if you have time
Paul *********
If your flight is early am and you go through before midnight you are OK. I do this everytime

@Paul ********
you mean leaving? Unfortunately it's 07.40 probably too early to get through before midnight?
Greg *********
It's not a problem

Small fine on departure

They may make a small note in your passport

Happened to me

Or change your flight date, whichever is easiest and cheapest
Adrian ******
No problem 1 day. Happened to me twice and no repercussions. 500 baht each time.
Steve *******
@Adrian *****
Don't advise people to overstay even if it's just 1 day.

@Steve ******
don't think I advised anyone. Just stating my experience.

Likelihood is they will do nothing of one day
Scott *******
Don't worry about it, it's fine I did the same
David *******
Get a visa before travelling. Apply online and the Embassy in London processes quickly.
Olivier ************
Get a 30 days extension. Call Turkish to move your return date by 29 days. Stay another month .

my kind of logic!

Unless the customer is a VIP or on a Business Class ticket, Airlines usually have a considerable Fee for changing a booking ( Example: minimum $150 with most airlines) Versus one day overstay of 500 Bahts= $15 ... The choice should be easy ;o)
Thomas *******
Pay the 500 baht at airport on departure, simple.
Terry ********
@Thomas ******
there is no fine for one day
Chris ******
Sent me on my way last year 1 day overstay no problem
Declan **********
If you are landing close to midnight you could just hang around and wait until midnight before going through immigration.

Otherwise your options are

A) paying the 500 baht fine when you leave and getting a red stamp (avoid it at all possible as it could cause you problems later)

B) getting a 60 day TRV before coming (best option)

C) extend by 30 days when here for 1900 baht

@Declan *********
good advice but unfortunately the arrival is 10.50
Terry ********
@Declan *********
I have done this many times over 17yrs to stay an extra day before my return flight. There is no fine for one day and you do not get a red stamp. Just a small square blue stamp with a squiggle and never had any consequences.
JP *******
@Declan *********
or clear customs early and hang out at the airport. Depends when his flight leaves. 🛫
Garry ********
Don't forget the clock starts ticking when you land not take off
Peter ********
@Garry *******
I don’t believe that’s true. It’s what the stamp in the passport says. And if you go brush your teeth at midnight it will say the next day. I have done it. Wasn’t necessary actually as I went to Cambodia half way through.
Garry ********
@Peter *******
that's what I meant, the time you got your stamp 👍🏻👍🏻, not take off , can be a days difference

If it’s just one day they don’t fine you for that.Thats not a long period is it 🤦‍♂️

Like I said not a problem ☠️

@Rick *******
that's if you get to the airport, what I posted was the risk of not making it and it is a bigger risk these days

I almost had the same problem cause I didn't realize it's leapyear but I landed 11:20 PM so I just waited until it was passed midnight to go through passport control. Problem solved!
Peter ********
@Mike *******
I did that once. Basically got ready for bed. 5555. One day they don’t mind anyway. Because planes get canceled.
Vernon *********
What time is your flight?
Martin *********
Just pay one day over stay at the airport.
Steve **********
@Martin ********
there is an overstay desk at airport..just pay 500, no neg in PP unless abuse it.
Egger *********
For one day , pay the 500 Bhat fine , visa is 1900
Andi ***********
You can extend for another 30 days when you are there or get a 60 day tourist visa before you leave.
Brandon ************
Apply for a tourist visa through the evisa system. Cheaper than applying for an extension in Thailand and you don't have to spend a day at immigration.
