On the subject of overstays,

my visa runs out on the 31st and I'm booked to fly out on the 2nd.

Is that 1 or 2 days overstay?

I'm figuring 1 so no fine but...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on whether a two-day overstay will occur if the user’s visa expires on the 31st and their flight is on the 2nd. Comments highlight that while some believe it could be considered one day, most agree it will likely count as two days. Despite this, many state that the fines for short overstays (around 1,000 baht) are usually minor and not heavily penalized, especially for first offenses.

You'll be fine, just don't make a habit of overstaying.

At the airport 1 day overstay is often waived, especially if you leave in the early hours of the morning, unfortunatly i think you will get the full two days. But it's only a 1k fine, and no hard feelings. Mistakes happen and people overtsay by a day or two all the time.

Looks like I'll have to buy a 7 day extension or I'll have a black mark on my passport.

Oh, the shame of it all.

Correct. Pay the money, sign the paper, smile, no problem. It's happens all the time. It's the big overtsayers and people who do it again and again they don't like.

There's no black mark or anything , they don't mind at all .

2 days is nothing .. well it's possibly 1k bht ... but they are always very happy

Depends what time your flight is. If it's the early hours of the 2nd, you can go through immigration late on the 1st.

And still day nr 1 and day nr 2 are counted as overstay. Airports do not charge you for day number 1 if you do like you say but if it is more days day number 1 will be counted in and charged.

You have to leave the country on the 31 first, after that every day counts for overstay the terms of you visa. There is no discount because you decided to leave.

But on the 2nd I'm going, not staying. 😜

Worth a shot anyway.

That's Fine ...

If the calendar does not have a day numbered one your are correct, but as far as I checked mine calendar every month starts with day number 1. Supposted to leave 31, day nr 1 overstay, day nr 2 overstay.
