Friend just left through BKK this morning. Technical overstay by a few hours.
No fine, just script stating: "leniency less than 84(?)h".
Interesting background, we believe the PP was stamped incorrectly as they should have had a 30d exemption (and this is what they booked the return ticket as). They went to CW along with airline ticket, but was advised, don't worry (no new stamps).
BTW this is for information only, of you want to start a debate, go elsewhere. We all know that the IO you face on the day has final and ultimate say.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A friend recently encountered a minor visa overstay at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) by a few hours. Despite the overstay, they were not fined, receiving a leniency script indicating no action due to the overstay being under 84 hours. There was also confusion regarding their visa exemption status, as their passport should have been stamped for a 30-day exemption, which is what their return ticket was based on. The experience highlights the unpredictability of immigration officers and their discretion in handling overstays.
