Hi. Just a quick question. Hoping to come in January for 16 days. Gonna book a hotel in Bangkok for a couple of nights on arrival and decide there where I’m going to head to after. Is it a problem now if you can’t prove where you are staying for the duration of time there. In the past ive just booked and travelled wherever ive fancied at the time. Was hoping to again. Appreciate any advise and thank you in advance.
Can someone who’s recently received their DTV confirm if the proof of 3 months of 500,000 baht needed in the bank. Can I apply for the DTV on the third month? Meaning I have proof of the last 2 months and the current month I’m currently applying would that suffice? Or do I need to wait until the end of the 3rd month?
Bringing people up to date. I did a Wise transfer today from my bank in Australia to Bangkok Bank in Thailand. I selected as always "Funds For Longstay In Thailand" used PayID as the transfer method. The transfer took around twelve hours and came through as an International Transfer. My account was opened some years back on a non-immigrant visa, and I am still on a non-immigrant extension. I use the minimum 65k per month transfer method. My account has never been frozen
Hi, I have been married to my Thai wife 25 yrs next month. She has lived hear in the UK for most of that time.I am currently building our house in Thailand. I have the land, I have built the boundary walls & raised the ground level ready for the house build to start. I am due to retire in 3 yrs. What would be the visa I need to stay the longest time without renewing?? If it’s only a few months the I don’t want to waste money building for nothing. What would my best option please?
Reports are appearing that Bangkok Bank have implemented a new policy for long term visa holders wishing to get a bank account balance certificate that’s needed for your extension.
They are now requiring that you have the money in your account (400 or 800k as per needed) for 4 MONTHS prior to requesting the certificate.
This is a bank policy and NOT a new immigration rule.
I have no idea the reasoning behind this policy and at this stage it appears that it’s Bangkok Bank ONLY.
My wife and I are planning to apply for the DTV later this year with her and my child as my dependents. What are the best countries to apply in that only require the 500k for one person and not each individual? We are from the USA but are okay with flying to another country to apply and then forward to Thailand from there.
I have successfully extended my DTV stay for another six months at the Samut Prakan Immigration Office today. The staff there were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the process. Since I couldn’t find clear documentation requirements online, I sought advice directly from the receptionists (who, I must say, were very beautiful, kind and welcoming). Interestingly, they mentioned I was the first person to visit their office specifically for a DTV stay extension.
As a remote worker, my work contract was an *essential* document for the application. Additionally, I needed to submit financial proof, including:
* An updated bank book (passbook) on the same day of the visa extension
* A balance certification signed by the bank
* A bank statement showing the same balance as the certification
Accommodation documents were also required, such as:
* A copy of my rental agreement
* A TM30 form
Initially, I had prepared a bank statement generated two days prior to my visit. However, this didn’t meet the requirements because the passbook needed to be updated on the same day as the visa extension. One thing to note is that although I had updated my passbook the night before my visit, the officer required it to be updated again on the day of the extension, even if no new transactions had occurred. The receptionist kindly explained this detail during my initial inquiry, but I decided to give it a try with what I had. As a result, I had to make an extra trip to the bank’s ATM to update my passbook. Thankfully, everything else was in order. This requirement could be different if you are using a foreign bank as financial proof. In such cases, they might adjust the requirements slightly, or you may have no choice but to fly out and come back or do a border bounce.
I’m sharing this experience and the document requirements for anyone considering a DTV stay extension. Being well-prepared can save time and effort, and the staff at the immigration office are there to help. Overall, it was a smooth process once all the documentation was in place.
Will the change to evisa on jan 1st also affect process time in countries that already only do evisa? Or only for the countries switchin? thank you so much
