My work permit and Non B visa are planned to be closed/cancelled by my company by the end of March, but I am flying out of the country about 10 days later.
Would this leave me in a situation of overstay? I think it will be an issue... however I've been told not to worry...
But I do worry! Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the potential for overstaying their visa if their company cancels their work permit and Non-B visa before their planned departure from Thailand. Responses indicate that typically, when a work visa is canceled, there is a very limited grace period to leave the country, often just a few days. However, since the user works for a BOI company, they might have a slightly extended window, but it is advised to confirm with immigration authorities for accurate guidance. Users recommend ensuring the visa is properly canceled to avoid future issues and fines.
Based on some of your replies, it sounds like you are on a 1-year extension of stay?
If that's correct, your company cannot cancel this, only you can. And you need to cancel it before you leave or you will not be able to get a long-term visa or extension again and will likely be fined 20,000 baht for failing to cancel it.
Unless you are working for a BOI company, you will not get any grace period. The day your employment ends, your permission to stay in Thailand ends at the same time.
Yes, it's a BOI company. Thanks for your answer. So, when should it be cancelled? I need to know if I should delay the cancellation then to avoid a scene once in the airport
BOI company makes it complicated. I've seen them give everything from 7 days up through 30 days after cancellation. I'm not sure how they determine the grace period.
You cannot still be on the same Visa for 2 years, your passport stamp says "Extension of Stay" which means when you stop working you cancel your WP and extension and leave immediately. Get your employer to give you documentation in advance to take to Immigration.
so you are not on a visa at all, your visa is long gone. You are on an extension of stay which is very different. Normally what you would do is get a letter from your company stating your last day of work and then you use this letter to cancel both your work permit and your extension of stay in advance. You then leave the country by the date in the letter at the latest.
there is no grace period of 1 week. You apply to Immigration and when the deny it they may give you a 7 day to leave Thailand. No such thing as a 7 day extension.
My visa originally expires 1 day after flying out, however the company wants to close it at the end of March... So, that's why I'm trying to find out if I should advice my company to wait till closer to my flight date and avoid a surprise at the airport immigration
The thing is they knew my flight date beforehand and that's why I asked them if there would be an issue by cancelling that early. They said there will be no problem at the airport... but I hesitate...
