What happens to a Non-B visa after quitting a job and leaving Thailand?

Hi, just a question about cancelling a NonB visa. A friend of mine quit her job and the company dealt with the cancellation of her work permit and visa. When they returned her passport to her it still says she has permitted stay until August 2022 as it did before cancellation. Shouldn't the passport now have a permitted stay stamp of 24 hours or 7 days after the cancellation? She's worried that it hasn't been properly cancelled. Any information is much appreciated. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question addresses concerns about the proper cancellation of a Non-B visa after a friend quit her job in Thailand. Despite her employer handling the cancellation of her work permit and visa, her passport still indicates a permitted stay until August 2022. Responses clarify that the company cannot cancel the visa in the passport; the individual must take action. If she exits Thailand without a re-entry permit, her Non-B visa will end automatically, but she may face complications related to future applications if her Extension of Stay remains active without cancellation.

If I understand correctly she needs to cancel her extension of stay. If she leaves the country without the cancellation she will be technically on overstay and will need to pay a hefty overstay fee next time she applies for a Non-B visa.

, technically right, she would face the problem when she will apply for a long-term extension in her future (not only Non-B).

But as long as she doesn't come back to Thailand, it practically wouldn't be a problem.

Let's clarify something first. Is she on a non b visa( 90 days from date of entry and it's a sticker NOT a stamp) or is she now on extension of stay ( one year extension and it's an inked stamp NOT a sticker)?

If she's on the initial 90 day non b (sticker) then she doesn't have to do anything. She can, if she wanted, stay untill August 22nd. As she leaves soon, then this visa (without a re entry permit) simply ends right there

As you say the stamp from the initial visa is 90day, and if she has the stamp until Aug 2022, it cannot be the first stamp, should be an extension.

Ok thank you. She's leaving the country tomorrow and she's not planning to come back. She's not getting much help from her employer. Her passport just says permitted to stay Aug 2022. If she doesn't get a reentry permit and just leaves tomorrow will the nonB visa "cancel" automatically or become invalid?

permission to stay extension Non B ends with work permit cancellation, must leave by midnight that day.

an extension gets invalid when you cancel WP, but not "end" automatically.

if she isn’t coming back then it doesn’t matter if she cancels her visa or gets a re-entry permit.

As I understand it her extension became invalid the moment her work permit was canceled so she might be on a few days overstay.

, She should have the new stamp (all Thai characters) with a new date if her employer proceeded with cancelation correctly.

If she leaves Thailand without a re-entry permit, her stay will be invalid, but not canceled automatically (if not canceled correctly).

But if she will not be coming back to Thailand, she doesn't have to worry about it.

a Company can not cancel an Non B visa inside a passport.

IF your friend had an stamp from Immigration, Extension of Stay permitted up to xx Aug 2022. This has to be cancelled by the owner of the passport. As this Extension of Stay ends on the same day as the person is employed, the owner of the passport needs to apply for a new Extension of Stay and meet those requirements of leave the country.
