There are alot of questions about this but i really want to clarify with my situation. I have resigned from work and have a 1 year extension.

If HR goes to cancel my work permit, do i need to cancel my non b visa that exact same day? She will do it at Surat Thani to my knowledge, so I wouldn’t be able to then go to Koh Samui Immigration and cancel my visa that day.

I will so a visa run after both have been physically cancelled and get a 1 month visa, so im worried and very cautious about timing. Especially with the time of year and lack of visa runs. I’m aware I may have to pay for 7 days to leave.

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
When you cancel your work permit, you must also cancel your Extension of Stay based on employment to avoid overstaying your visa. It is advisable to manage the cancellation process with your employer to ensure both cancellations occur on a day when a visa run is available, allowing you to leave the country and apply for a new visa.

You need to cancel YOUR work permit with a letter from your employer, the documents you get from the Ministry of Labor you use to cancel your Extension of Stay at Immigration. If you have a nice relation with your ex employer try to manage that this will both be cancelled on a day there is a visa run. You can cancel in advance so, for example, there is a visa run on 21 Dec, you visit tomorrow the Ministry of labor and the Immigration office to cancel your work permit and Extension of Stay on day 21 Dec. And you leave that day with the visa run company to organize a new tourist visa or a border run for a new 30 day visa exempt entry if your passport country is allowed for this.

it will be cancelled on the date mentioned in the letter as your end of contract, the day you stopped working. You and your employer now that date. It takes minutes for the Ministry of Labor to cancel the Work Permit, not weeks.

I try again: You stop working let say day 24 Dec 2019

your employer goes tomorrow 17 Dec to the Ministry of Labor and cancel your Work Permit with end date 24 Dec 2019

With the document from employer and Ministry of Labor you visit Immigration Office on day 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, or 23 to cancel your Extension of Stay with new end date 24 Dec. If there is a visa run leaving the island on day 21, make sure you did your visit to Immigration before day 21 and you can leave.

Short:

Employer make letter end of contract the date xx/xx/xx

Cancel as soon as possible work permit, with end date xx/xx/xx

You cancel Extension of Stay with new end date xx/xx/xx

You leave country after both documents cancelled before date xx/xx/xx

WAIT, you ask your employer to make a letter that cancels your work contract at date for example 24 Dec 2019. With that letter, if you trust your ex employer enough she cancel your work permit on 24 Dec 2019, she can do this tomorrow in advance. Then she sends, brings you the documents, just a ferry ride of 1,5 hour, and you cancel your Extension of Stay in advance but with new end date for example 24 Dec 2019. Than you can leave ANY day in beween the visit to cancel and the last day on a visa run.

But my issue is i don’t think it will be possible for me to do it on the same day as she told me she was doing it at Surat Thani and im on Koh Samui. Also, the border bounces are only at 4am, meaning i would still have to do that the day after.

1. The day you cancel your work permit, you also need to cancel your extension of stay based on employment and leave the country. Otherwise, you'll be overstay.

2. If you have not done any border hops or "visa runs" this year, on the day your visa is canceled, I suggest doing a border hop to get a 30 day visa exemption (assuming you're from a visa exempt country). If you are from a visa exempt country, you can do 2 border hops each calendar year (January 1 to December 31).

So do you think i would have to pay overstay if my work permit is cancelled but i am not able to cancel the visa same day??

Yes my plan is to do the border bounce, the company is aware of all of my previous visas. So i can do that when i need to
