Hello,
I am quitting my job (putting in notice this week) and heading back home on December 20. I do not wish to come back, extend my stay, or get another job here. I'm going to my home country from Thailand via South Korea.
My question is, once my employer cancels my work permit and the extension of stay is invalid (right now it's until September 2022, with my next 90 day report in early January), how long do I have to leave? Should I specifically ask my employer to cancel it on a certain date? I'm not trying to stay so I feel like it won't be a problem but I don't want to show up at the airport on Dec 20 and find out I overstayed because they cancelled my visa on my last day of work (Dec 17). Thanks in advance!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to quit their job in Thailand and return home on December 20. They are concerned about the timeline regarding the cancellation of their work permit and any potential overstay issues. Comments suggest that after quitting, the user should go to the Immigration Office to cancel their work permit, as leaving should typically occur within 24 hours of cancellation. Additionally, there is an option to request a 7-day extension of stay by paying a fee.
