Hi all -

I would like to know, is there any buffer time when my work permit and my visa is cancelled before I need to leave the country? And how long would that be, (if any).

Currently I'm holding Non-Immigrant B Visa BOI (if that makes any difference).

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user asks whether there is any buffer period to stay in Thailand after the cancellation of their work permit and visa, specifically on a Non-Immigrant B Visa BOI. Responses indicate that if the visa is within the first 90 days of issuance, there is typically no buffer period. However, employees of BOI companies may have a lenient period of up to 21 days to leave, depending on the company's policies, but this does not apply to those employed by standard companies. It's recommended to check with BOI for specific details regarding individual cases.

If you are on the first 90days from your visa (sticker or in-country), you can stay until that 90days up and no buffer there.

If you are on extension based on employment by BOI/IEAT company, there MIGHT be a lenient (free of charge) period for you to leave Thailand. It would be from 0 to up to 21days depends on the company or other conditions. You need to contact BOI (or Chumchuri if your extension is issued in Bangkok) to see how many days you can get. I saw BOI employees got 7, 14, or 21days upon cancellation, but there also was a 0day case. (personally I wouldn't have much hope about that without checking)

I must add, this is only for employees of BOI companies. There is NOT a free period for you to get ready to leave Thailand for people with extension based on employment with standard companies. You need to apply for any type of extension then get 7days-application-is-not-approved-and-to-leave-Thailand.

I doubt you have a Non-B visa. Look in your passport; do you have a stamp that says "one year. extension of stay based on employment"?

What you have in your passport will change what the answer is.

@Benjamin *****
thank you for clarifying about this - you right, it's extension of stay based on employment issued by BOI
