Hi, question about work permit and non-b cancellation

Is my below understanding correct?

My last day at the company is 31 Aug. When my employer cancels the work permit, they can give 7-day grace period for me to leave the country. But if I require more, i can extend another 7 days from that grace period. So, total is 14 days. Is that correct??

Because right now, my employer is telling me that they won’t give me 7 days grace period and i have to leave the country right away.

Thank you in advance 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the grace period for leaving Thailand after their work permit is canceled by their employer. They initially believe there is a 7-day grace period following cancellation, which can be extended for another 7 days. However, the comments from other users clarify that there is no grace period at all. When a work permit is canceled, the employee must handle the cancellation process, including informing the immigration office. Failure to properly cancel the work permit and extension may result in fines and complications for future visa applications.

There is no 7 day grace period.

YOU take documents from your company to the department of labor stating your last day of work and cancel your work permit. It's your work permit so you cancel it.

Then you take your cancelled work permit and the same documents from your company stating your last day of work to the immigration office that issued your work extension and you cancel that.

When you applied for your work extension at immigration you signed a document that said you would notify them of any change in your status, and your job ending is a change in your status.

You can do this about 1 week before you last day of work and immigration will cancel your extension and then give you a stamp that lasts until your last day of work. There is no grace period.

If you do not cancel your extension you will not be able to apply for another long term extension in Thailand and you'll be fined 20,000 if you try because you failed to abide by the rules of the document you signed when you got your work extension.

Your employer is correct, there is no grace period. You can get a letter from your employer stating the last day you will work and cancel in advance at immigration then you leave on that date.
