TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around a user expressing frustration over a visa rejection due to discrepancies with the name as listed on their passport. Other users provide insights into the strict regulations surrounding name accuracy in visa applications, stressing the importance of matching passport information exactly. They highlight that changes to the passport details are not permitted and that this can lead to application rejections without refunds. Comments suggest nuances regarding cultural naming practices, especially for those with middle names or non-English characters, and share personal experiences with similar issues.
Put the correct name so it matches your passport. Literally that easy.

On most Thai Embassy websites it is told very explicit that Passport information must be absolutely exact, and if not so, application will be rejected, and the visafee is lost.
Nobody can change Passport information.
So only one to blame, yourself.
In fact the Belgium Thai Embassy IS very explicit:
“3. Fill in the Application Form
Please exercise caution when filling in information such as first name, middle name, last name, date of birth, passport number, and other passport details (Examples here). In addition, please make sure that all information is correct before submitting because we cannot adjust anything. Double-check all information, especially if your device is using auto-fill or auto-correct. “
It sounds like he has a middle name but that the middle name is not included on his passport. However, he included it on the application.

My passport doesn’t have my middle name on it so I excluded my middle name from my dtv visa. Other wise it wouldn’t have been accepted I was told

I saw a video from one girl explaining this middle name problem. I think she’s chinese . Thing is when you typing your name in 3 columns it not gonna look same after on your visa . Cuz Last name will be first in row . I think she did something like she put her last name in last name column. First name in first name column.. but her middle name put after First name in same column and middle name column stay empty. And of course probably dont use any characters áâäǎăãåā like this in names. I have Č in my last name and didn’t use it in application. Just normal C

this kind of issue could be fixed easily like airlines do with their ticket. They could even ask for a fee to do that but instead they are greedy and they keep all the money. They know that they are going to apply again anyways...

Welcome to Thai bureaucracy 🤷♂️

What if the passport is Spanish and on it I have ‘given names’ (with 2 names)
Should I put the first name in ‘name box’ and then the second one in ‘middle name?

Read the informations about how to do at the Thailand Embassy website.

probably didn't write the names in the correct order or correct section

You're lucky that it's a very detailed explanation of the rejection reason. Your next application should be smooth.

It is so greedy that they reject on this basis, they should have a system that allows them to open the application to the applicant and change the name if they made a mistake, but they want the extra 10k. Also have a better explanation as to how people with special characters should write their names - but they don’t.

Participant anonyme 534 if I have a « é » in my first name, should I write « e » instead? Where can I find the rules?
Henrik *****
If is for the safety of Passports, no information can be changed.
On the Embassy website the rules are found.
And in the manual top right corner of the e-visa website.
Both places should be familiar to everyone searching for a visa.
They are the same details. Truncated by inadequate length of field(s) in her passport. Machines are capable of matching such data. In this case software developers are obviously not. That being the case, an exception report should be printed for embassy staff to determine whether details match. They claim not to be permitted to amend input. If that is true, the solution is to allow the applicant to resubmit free of charge. You would prefer the applicant to lose her fee?
If you read the comments on this thread (especially Jay Wolfpack) you'd realise that the instructions aren't 'perfectly clear'. Embassies claiming it's the applicants responsibility to check their OCR has worked correctly isn't acceptable. Other people claim using the MRZ will always be successful. Someone else states that isn't true and to ignore that advice and input name as shown in the body of passport data page. Then there is the income requirement that isn't listed on embassy webpages. One contributor says there is no minimum income limit. How do they know this? There must be because embassy staff need a yardstick to work from. Why keep it secret? All in all, a diabolical service administered with arrogance and incompetence.
The applicant input her middle name instead of the initial (only) printed in her passport. Only the most obtuse person would insist doing so was incorrect.
I did, that doesn’t mean I can’t see the issue in them not being able to handle such an incredibly simple task

Anonymous participant 534 I agree that its annoying but its a process that the government has clear instructions on when applying.
I got approved first try in HCMC because had a tab with the official rules and i also saved a bunch of posts related to my type of DTV and had it open.
It took me about an hour to submit (i triple checked and had a friend proofread it specifically so i didn’t have to re-pay the app fee)

There are help to be found on the Embassy website how to fill in passport information, and also the manual on the e-visa website.
But people are to lazy to read them.

Do you have characters in your middle name that are not English and cannot be written in their input field? I do, so I have to write it the English way, which is what they also do in the little bar at the bottom of my passport - ø becomes oe

I think the spelling in the name is wrong, check again
