Seeking Justice for a Minor Visa Application Error 🇹🇭🚫

Pls help!

My husband's Thai eVisa application was denied due to a small mistake in his name format. The application showed "Muhammad M. Abullaah," but his passport omits the initial "M." Shockingly, we were denied the chance to correct the error and were informed that our 8,820 THB (AED 1,000) application fee won't be refunded.

Key points:

* Paid a significant fee (8,820 THB/AED 1,000)

* Rejected due to a minor error in name format

* No opportunity provided to rectify the mistake

* Unfair denial of refund or modification

Please share your advice on how to resolve this issue and seek justice for our situation. Your support is truly appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice after their husband's Thai eVisa application was rejected due to a minor error in the name format—specifically, the omission of an initial from the passport. Despite the small nature of the mistake, the application was denied without a chance to correct it, and they were informed that the application fee of 8,820 THB would not be refunded. The community reactions highlight that such errors often lead to automatic rejections, and many emphasize the importance of meticulously checking application details before submission.

Can’t be for a DTV visa - far too cheap.

You are coming to wrong country if justice is a priority for you.

Rules are very clear, mistakes mean auto rejection and no fee returned.

Mistakes like yours seem so common actually starting to agree with that policy, seems so many people cannot fill out a simple form, never mind do any actual research, would bog down entire system correcting all the mistakes people make

Here is your justice, and it’s not very nice.

This issue is discussed DAILY in the forums. Any errors of dates, name , spelling etc are AUTOMATIC FAILURE from the computer.

Sorry…….do your homework.
Gary *********
They do not care, happened to me (I entered it right, they juxtaposed the dates) I re submitted and got it in two days. You will not receive a refund or even reach anyone - my ex wife is an immigration attorney in Bangkok, it just is not going to happen.

well i would understand your frustration if the application process do NOT give you chance to confirm/edit the data it scan from your passport page, but it DOES give you an option before you submit the application, computer can make mistake and thats why they allow to confirm before submit, now do it again and make sure the data is correct before submit....if you have read this forum then you know people are making the same mistake and learning hard way......rule is never trust anyone or anything but yourself.....

ORIGINAL POSTER
The mistake was not created from our side. It added automatically when asked to scan the passport. Taken the Middle Name with First Name.
John *******
Anonymous participant That doesn’t make sense. You said your middle name isn’t in the passport, so how would the website know that the middle name initial is M.?
Anonymous *************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@John ******
M. in the passport as middle name. Not in First Name
John *******
Anonymous participant interesting. In my passport, both first name and middle are on the same line. No way for the application to know which is my first and which is my middle. Have to update it manually, like the instructions tell you to do. Honestly, you won’t win this argument with the embassy. You don’t want to anger the people who will be responsible for approving your next application. When did you join this group? It is a topic that has been discussed 100s of times

My Name is Floßmann, I feel you but believe me, you’ll do This error only once

Just read and fullfill carefully next time. Just that

Lol what 🤣 read the rules. No refunds if visa is rejected.

Need to apply and pay again. That's the way it is.

You lost the money. You made a mistake that they clearly tell you not to do. Sorry
Anonymous ******************
They should fix this. It’s wrong on every website. I had to write a disclaimer saying that I was not responsible for the website error which was funny cause they approved me even though I had my birthdate wrong, but I gave them a screenshot showing that it’s incorrect and I can’t fix it.

They should do that for everybody
Ciaran *********
You can’t resolve it. Apply again pay the fee and put the name in correctly.
Anonymous ******************
If you think that’s unfair wait until you get here.

Wait until you go to the hospital and they tell you can’t leave without paying the bill or they’re gonna call immigration or threatening you or other things like that

Maybe you dodged a bullet

Anonymous participant 798 ok anonymous. 🤣 People posting anonymously is the real joke. Good one
Elías ********
Participante anónimo 798 I don't see how that's related to the OP situation, but for me, calling the police, Immigration or whatever authority when a person can't or don't want to pay a bill at a hospital, hotel, restaurant, etc. it's pretty obvious AND fair 🤷🏻
Anonymous ******************
@Elías *******
but it’s not actually legal here to threaten somebody with that. It’s an intimidation tactic and the thing is I could’ve gone outside and got the cash from the cash to pay them, but they wouldn’t let me. And they charged my mother’s credit card more than they said they would that’s not legal either. Anyways, you can keep this place.
Biff *******
Anonymous participant 798 you think it’s unfair not to be allowed to leave hospital without paying for your treatment?
Anonymous ******************
@Biff ******
because I couldn’t leave to go to the cash machine to pay them even.
Anonymous ******************
Actually this is a big mistake since the name differs from the documents. I wouldn’t consider as minor error.
Wesley ********
You messed up the application there is no solution but to apply again.
Kristina *****************
Been there done that. Indonesia D1 though. made a mistake on my hubs name too. I could have put wrong birthday, expiration, passport number and fixed it. But no name changes! It is what it is, move on....Apply again.

Hubs will never ever let me live it down tho. Married 25 years and spelled his name wrong.
Cole *********
That fee is a processing fee. You will have to pay again for them to process again. And yes that's a minor issue and they could of easily fixed it but they want your money. Apply and pay again if you want the visa.
Paula ********
Honestly this really is unfair and tiny errors should be able to be fixed for free. Especially when their application often pulls the details off the passport incorrectly
Elías ********
@Paula *******
Call it unfair, but at least they tell you in advance that they won't allow to do changes and that the money will not be refunded.
Luit *****************
@Paula *******
When they have to work for free for spplicants not checking their own details, fees would go up for all applicants. When you submit an application it is not possible to change it anymore. Why should that be unfair?

I had my name put wrong also, because first time I corrected the biodata read, but after saving&continuing application it got read wrong again and i didnt notice it. My fault, so I paid twice. It clearly says you have to check everything before pressing the finnish button. Its stupid they "cant change the name" I agree
Anonymous ******************
And yes there are not many people called Muhammad Abullaah. So passport detail matters. It is not a small mistake.
Mercy *********
This is an error that has been mentioned many times before in this group. Personally it seems stupid that they don't let you correct minor errors like this. But it is what it is. So, the only thing to do is either accept his mistake and reapply or attempt to dispute the charge with your credit card company.
John **********
Nothing you can do about it. You lose the money and would need to apply again. A lesson in making sure the information you supply matches that on the passport
Ray *****
There is no way to resolve it. You have lost your fee

Actually surprised at the relatively small fee as most embassies are over 10,000bt

For now. Nothing you can do. Just have to get it right next time and double check everything before submitting
Anonymous ******************
How to resolve the issue? Apply more carefully. At the end of the day this is unfortunately your error. You will not be refunded
