What should I do after my Thai visa application was canceled due to missing my middle name?
UPDATE: i left out my middle name 🤦🏼♀️
I reapplied for another 340$ USD
My application was canceled (incorrect personal information). obviously i entered my name correctly. i applied through ho chi minh. i’m super mad and don’t know what to do. fly to jakarta and try again? the visa fee is already so much money.
i cant download line, i have tried on my pc with google and on my iphone with apple and it says the same thing every time. it’s not available in my region (united states phone number).
my only guess is that one of the bank accounts i submitted has a different us address than the one i put on my profile, but i provided so much more proof than 500k baht. idk.
any ideas?

Summary so far

They re-applied with an additional fee but are unsure how to proceed, considering flying to Jakarta for a new application. The conversation includes comments about common application errors, the difficulties with the Thai visa process, suggestions for changing application locations, and concerns over not being able to download the LINE app due to regional restrictions.

I feel there are legitimate gripes here because unlike physical paper documents where there is proof of an error, anything can, has and does happen during electronic submissions. I remember when I applied they updated the entire system in the middle of my application, and when I got back in there fields had changed!
Anonymous ******************
The system is designed to make as much money as possible, either through 'oops sorry no refunds' or increasingly steering people towards agents who take a cut on the revenue stream. Take it or leave it, up to you ka.

For line change your store to Thailand store on App Store will you download it then change store back to US
Anonymous ******************
To download Line you need to change the settings of the online application store and set the Asian region.

I was scare about this kind of things happen to me, because im not good about administrative things, so i prefer ask an dtv agent to help me, and i have my dtv about the first time name of agency visathailand.com

I’m so sorry to hear about being denied on a small (potential) error.
Tbh this is why I used Issa Compass. It’s like an agent-lite kind of service. They input and submit everything and respond to any additional info requests if there are anything. Also you are guaranteed a refund or free re-application if you are denied after they give you the green light.
It’s like 18,000 baht total (incl Visa fee, so like 555 USD). Made my process really smooth.
I don’t work with them, but I know and trust the founders and really liked their team and mission.
Best of luck dear. Again, really sorry to hear about the denial. It sucks

Personally, I wouldn’t risk $*******
USD in view of how they operate. An extra $155 USD to guarantee your five year visa isn’t excessive. Additionally, reading between the lines, using this service might tip the scales in favour of success where the supporting evidence was ‘borderline’?Anonymous ******************
@Christopher **********
It’s an extra ~$250 if applying in Indonesia it looks like. Fee for Indonesia if applying by oneself is ~$300 I think.MacKenzie ******
I’d just reach out to them for rates tbh. I imagine it’s like an on-top fee, but for the sake of ease, it’s the highest number posted. Mine wasn’t exactly what was on their website. It was a less.
Edit: I looked it up in my records, it was 487 total when I did it, and with Vietnam being 340, it was 147 USD on top for the service.

just come to Thailand and do visa runs every 3 months
JJ ***********
you are wrong
JJ ***********
ok bro
Andrew ******
@JJ **********
You can only do one run a year now. So if you want to stay more then 6 months you are out of luck. I was in Thailand for 5 months, went home for 3 months and when I came back I almost didn't get back in.
Wojtek ***********
There is no limitations if you flight. There is 2 visa run per year only if you past border by car or bus but if you come by air there is no any official limitations.
Anonymous ******************
Wrong, still unlimited if you pay 4000 baht per trip to a border run company. The only thing cracked down on is Cheap Charlies trying to do it themselves. Same for airport (fast track). Just business,
@Aless*****
. Unlimited entries.

@Andrew *****
it’s ok to do it by flight? For example Thailand from Jan to March then fly to Bali for a week the back to Thailand for 2 months then fly to China for a week etcAndrew ******
I came back via air and had issues.

can’t do that any moreAndrew ******
The fact that they don't allow you to make a correction and just take your money is a scam. This is the kind of stuff thats killing tourism numbers in Thailand.
ScenicPer*********
Why would you leave out your middle name if it's specifically tells you to put it? All it took was following simple directions. If you couldn't do that correct it's going to get a lot harder to be in Thailand.
Andrew ******
ScenicPersimmon526 people aren't perfect they make mistakes, some people have dyslexia, the fact that its a one shot deal is a scam. When you pay for something you should get the option to fix an issue, that's just fair. Defending stupid bureaucracy like this make you part of the problem.

Anonymous participant That's the problem. You take things as a joke. Hopefully you can learn to follow instructions from this.

Why you just don’t take an agency to help you going with the application you already lost 2 times the fee; you should have done it after the first time; they can chat in Thai with people working in the embassy and so on; don’t try again alone in your case…
Anonymous ******************
Almost sounds like the agents and people in the embassies are working together to line their own pockets. Could that be? More rejections = more sales.
Zaw ***********
Did you check with Embassy, how did you find out the reason is missing middle name?
Brad ********
How is it that you are getting an error saying that line "is not available in your region"? I downloaded it with no problems in the US. I've had it for years now. I didn't switch my store location to Thailand until I moved here.

Ah yes, it’s true. You have to wait at least 11 working days, but it’s easy, they don’t require any additional documents. In this case, it’s easier to apply from Cambodia.Tammi *****
@Mateusz **********
I meant Cambodia isn't as quick as JKT or HN when it comes to processing applications.
Rick ***********
It's crazy that they don't tell you what was wrong. I know lots of people defend them for rejecting applications on technicalities, not telling why they are rejected, and keeping the money. I think those people are crazy too.
Successful***********
@Rick **********
That's very unfair why not explain. I can't find any reason behind it even. Not that it's much work to do...Anonymous ******************
Because it keeps people guessing. More rejections = more money.
John **********
Most likely something from your passport information that's incorrect
Anonymous ******************
It’s clear that something wasn’t entered correctly, otherwise, the application wouldn’t have been canceled. Before applying again, it’s important to identify exactly what went wrong so you can correct it. Otherwise, you risk facing another rejection. Anyway, I recommend you reapply in Hanoi, it has a fast turnaround time3-5 working days, the staff are competent and requirements are generally a little less strict.

Ho Chi Minh as of now is not recommended place to apply ka ..
Big mess there , if you are in Vietnam, you may try to re apply in Hanoi
It is better than Ho Chi Minh.
Try to be in a place related to Hanoi administrative zone .
Unfortunately, the fee already lost.
We wish you better luck next try ka

Also ensure you don’t leave the country you applied in before receiving approval or otherwise.
