What’s the success rate of holiday visa for Thai partner to Uk ?

My fiancé is pregnant I would like her view Uk and see if she be ok to adapt to lifestyle change in the future . She has two children already at school so these would stay with her sister and continue education- hence giving my partner also has reason to return to Thailand .

I’m not of any pension age so me to Thailand is out of question this moment in time .

Maybe in future we as a 4 may attempt Uk and children tutor taught English .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The success rate for holiday visas from Thailand to the UK largely depends on the applicant's ability to demonstrate strong ties to their home country, such as property ownership, stable employment, and family commitments. Some commenters reported high success rates, citing 95% as a statistic they had heard, especially if all required documents are in order. However, many shared personal experiences indicating the importance of showing a solid reason for returning to Thailand, as immigration officers are cautious about potential overstays. Factors like pregnancy, while not explicitly mentioned in applications, could also complicate the case. Overall, while a properly prepared visa application can be straightforward, individual circumstances vary, and vigilance is recommended.

got loads good advice . Not one for groups tbh so not joining one for every purpose in life . Like I said got good feedback and know what direction to go now .

Get photos together in front of hotel and house. Also photos with family. Apply with the view SH needs to return to Thailand. Go for a two or five year visa allowing six months per year

I’ve never had a problem getting visas for different girlfriends or my wife. Do the research and provide what they want.
Peter **********
I’ve done it 5 times over the last 8 years and all 5 were successful. As long as you can prove that you can support her for the duration of the trip and that she has something to go back to then there should be no problem.
Alistair *********
I got my wife over on visitors visa a couple of times - successfully. She's now here on spose visa. Difficult for them to settle as culture is very different. Immigration officer will be looking at how she is paying for the trip and does she have a reason to return to Thailand. I used an agent who was very good.
Kev *********
Big factors are financial stability in Thailand and reason why she will return. If you apply for her to stay 3 weeks, even though the visa is 6 month validity, staying longer than 3 weeks is considered a breach. If this happens I'd advise you to contact UKBA. The staff at Cardiff are excellent and will advise accordingly. Those of you who say it's not a breach I had first hand experience of a visitor being detained by immigration in England for staying longer than her application length of stay. I've also had experience of getting a visa for a lady that overstayed 9 years!!! The reason her overstay was discounted was because the application was made quote" in pursuit of family life". There are full guidelines and visa laws/immigration on Government website. Google UK visa and immigration rules.

Apologies if I am being negative but you will be sending money to Thailand weekly.

The sisters will never stop asking.

Set a fixed budget and stick to it.

Not a baht more.

I know that mate . Was heavy it’s not anymore I moved her out so it’s dropped significantly. I more than aware when I get water works 😭 etc it’s her family pressure her and she lie to me . But we’ve talked . I know what I will give and it’s ample when it happens , they all know I’m not stupid and will very easily say no as I have done , and surprise no one died or starved lol

The UK government is a joke. We try pay for a girl to come here , get rejected but all those boats just come in and get whatever.

I did an application for someone and they rejected it because she "had some money not declared from her salary". Absolute joke. So what, we all have money from places that isn't our salary.

So told her not to bother, their loss on the money we would have spent all over. I'm leaving here soon anyway, told her it's an awful country now.
Paul *************
@Ben **************
I had the same thing with my wife after they rejected her the second time saying she had nothing to return for I went out in April again after being there in February getting married and set up a little business a coffee shop and deposited some money for product so on and yes same thing Although she did declare it her bank statements they denied her because she had no traceable evidence for the money ? They are just finding stupid excuses to take the fee and not give even saying she had no dependence to return for and yet having no parent she looks after her young brother with special needs you can't even appeal and if you complain you can't get anywhere because I complain from the UK the UK government embassy said it's an overseas reference number they can't deal with it they overseas when I complain to that embassy said can't deal with it because the contact details is in the UK catch 22 and now I'm told these people who probably have paid a lot less than what I've laid out Not all I've ever got a British citizenship passport and put up in a hotel they've been giving the rights to bring their families over this country is a joke like you say I keep looking for the ancestor to guy Fawkes to see if he has the spirit of his great-great-grandfather that's what we need in this country lol 🤣
Ben ***************
@Paul ************
(laughing at the end bit). Yeah, one thing I have found though is quite a few Asian girls think the UK is this utopia etc but I have been explaining no, it's really not 🤣🤣. Much better for us to move there rather than them move here. Much better quality life

I used an agent , and had no issues.
Stuart ************
@Declan *********
just got a tourist visa for girlfriend through an agent, cheap and straightforward
Paul *************
@Stuart ***********
I am glad for you Stewart but can I ask you was it just a lucky examiner passing you because my wife has two businesses a young brother she has to look after has no parents alive plenty of money in both bank accounts and they still said she was denied because she would not return at the end of the period even though it was stated I've had a severe heart attack and need my wife to look after me and she would only be staying if I was still ill or to arrange my funeral and they still denied? so without being nosey does she have a good reason to return?
Stuart ************
@Paul ************
to be honest I never asked much about the whole process. She just needed to have X amount in her account for a certain period not to long. She has 2 children and a job in a Korean restaurant to return to , it all seemed very straightforward no problems with anything at all. I hope u can get something sorted soon 👍
Paul *************
@Stuart ***********
you are very lucky that my friend I am on other sites for advice and somebody on there has children in the UK She's flew back to a funeral And then was denied reentry she was trying to fight to get back with the husband and the kids in the UK And they wonder why all these riots are starting to kick off???
Declan **********
Relatively easy so long as you can show ample proof for reason to return. (For proof we showed that we have 2 businesses here, a house, 2 condos and take care of her parents and sisters children.) Once you've gotten a visa, every visa after that is like a walk in the park from that point after (so long as you do not break the rules of the visa, such as overstaying)

I would avoid agents if you can, they can't actually help you get the visa, they are just doing your paperwork and giving you guidance which you can easily obtain from pages like this.
Hataikarn *******
Better pay for agency to do it for the first time สะใภ้อังกฤษ UK join this group and they will help you out.
Paul *************
@Hataikarn ******
As I've already explained I paid £1,000 for them to do everything the agency even to do the translation and go with my wife they can only take you with your documents to the door The decision is on the examiner and they are ruthless They're not even reading the case files My wife was denied for having no dependants yet her case file states she looks after her young brother as no parents The denial says her businesses are not active and yet we put Google locations map showing where they are and how you can see the active photographs of the daily customers we put in how seriously ill I am with my heart attack with my hospital papers No mention of it we used an agent three times. For what good it did Although they made a great case with days not hours of man labour compiling it all It doesn't get you anywhere at the end of the day
Hataikarn *******
@Paul ************
I am sorry to hear that, you are right. Sometimes the examiner doesn’t look into the evidence properly.

Once you get refused at the first application , you need to declare all the points they have mentioned in the paper. Otherwise will be refused over and over again.

I recommended that group because all the members are UKs wife so they might share their experiences with you how they made it.

Hope you sort it out soon.

If she has it in the UK on a tourist visa they will give her healthcare no problem but she might get a bill at the end of it which will have to be cleared to get another visa.

My wife rents a massage shop, doesn't own a house, has a 10 year old Fiesta, a 25 year old daughter, 4 cats to take care of and spent time in a Malaysian prison for immigration offences nearly 5 years ago. She had no issues getting a holiday visa a few weeks ago, being completely upfront, providing details of her old passport and the Malaysian stamps. We used an Agent who was pretty doubtful of success. He tried to get me to write a flowery letter based on what one of his customers wrote. I binned that, wrote a perfunctary letter, sticking to the facts, ie purpose of visit, where she will be staying, my financials. Unless many other recommendations, I didn't provide the Home Office with any running commentary of private messages. Its none of their business. I think my wife showed some photos of us, but I didn't bother. It might have been because we chose to marry; Thai marriage perfectly legal in the UK. I'm also nowhere near retirement, though I technically could in Thailand. The visa application is checked by VFS; remember there is no appeal, so they can turn down for whatever reason they like, including taking too long to assess the application. But, the agents are recommending, for the first time, keep the stated dates for the visit to 4-6 weeks, and stick to those dates. My wife said she was coming for 6 weeks, and got a multientry 6 month visa. I'm not sure all 6 month visas are multientry, or if some are still single entry.

The vast majority of applicants are successful statistically. Maybe the ones refused are putting down their occupation as bargirl. There is a lady who has been asking my wife for a job. She was a bargirl, has an English boyfriend who lives in England. He doesn't want her working in a bar so the skinflint sends her 4000 baht a month to live on. I've seen her begging on the street as a result, but is overjoyed when he comes over to play pool with his mates. My suggestion is marry your fiance in Thailand. It will remove any doubt from the mind of an IO.

Getting a UK visa is very easy, but it depends on the purpose of your visit. I’m Thai, and I always get visas everywhere in the world, but my purpose is always genuine. My purpose is to travel for pleasure, and I have a return ticket. I have been to Europe more than 14 times

That’s why I suggested he buy a return ticket to Thailand for his wife. Since it seems his wife has never visited the UK before, having a return flight will help increase the ‘credibility’ that she will return to Thailand
Andy **********
@Nan *********
At the time of visa application, you don't have to have a flight booking. In fact they recommend against booking travel ahead of a decision. So having a return flight booked at the time of application does not help.

you're quite right Martyn. Some ECOs ( Entry Clearance Officers) will even see this as a negative. It is common practice for Thai parents to work away and send money home. UKBA know these things. Again I'm talking from experience.
Andy **********
@Martyn **********
Dependants, including elderly parents, are cited as good reasons. But my wife's parents are dead, her daughter is grown up. And she has no property. She has a barely viable business (low season, the shop takes in 150-300 Baht a day). Got a visa.

Johnny *****
Done it 4 times, including for the girlfriends daughter. It's not hard. Success rates are published by the Government and it's about 95% that are successful. Don't listen to all the people telling you it's impossible or hard because it isn't. You just need to get all the documents together and the evidence you provide needs to match up with what you write on the application form. You should not mention things that you can't back up with paperwork.

You can message me if you want any tips. Don't pay an agent, if you do, make sure they are registered with the government and not a backstreet chancer

Not very good mate I've tried three times to get my wife here The last time we put more information then what was needed I had double the amount of sponsor money we gave an accountable story file with over 200 photos with all the stress I'd had a major heart attack even put my notes in from the hospital and the bastards in 42 hours from doing a fingerprint my wife got a denied letter again The thing was she was denied on wrong grounds she has a young brother she looks after she has two businesses and this more run called Sheffield stated she had no dependants to return to Thailand for wasn't happy and said her businesses were not active but if it looked in the file she had declared about looking after the brother and Google locations of the businesses with up-to-date photos of customers so I am guessing it's just a lucky draw game to whether you will get it they are clamping down big time And the thing is my heart attack was so severe I can't fly so we can't be together? Good luck as all I can say

@Paul ************
Persevere Paul. My girlfriend was denied a visa twice on spurious grounds. On the third application, I pointed out all the errors and subjective judgements that had been made on the previous two and stated that if the 3rd application was refused for anything other than fair and proveable grounds, I would involve my MP and take legal action. She was granted a visa and is currently staying with me for a 2nd time and has a 2 year multiple entry visa. Do try again and good luck!
Paul *************
@Johnny *****
hi Johnny yes I've already done that I emailed the new MP and phone called didn't get a reply back And because I've got a severely damaged heart I'm not sure if I'm going to recover fully as Friday I was told after the last echograph they want to double the medication definitely not looking like a bright future for me having a wife but not being able to be with her she was meant to come back with me when we were getting married in February and that's when the government slapped that new from 18k to 38k earnings so she went for the visiting visa and was denied for not having a good enough reason to return to Thailand and said that she would over stay here welcome Which is stupid when she would have been traceable knowing they've taken some much information off me my wages and details my workplace my address my passport how the hell could she do a runner The only way is to make a big scene but then to do that you then probably would not be able to get into the country as they think you are often ill mental health status but I wish you good luck It wasn't third time lucky for me

Remember, if you apply for a visa and get refused, there is no refund on the fee. For a Holiday visa, its only £130 or so. For Fiance, application from outside the UK, £400. And a £1000 to upgrade that later on to partner visa. Do a holiday first, and see where you stand. That's also the HO recommendation. The biggest shock to her might be the toilet arrangements. My wife, when we did a trip to Hong Kong, which still uses UK plumbing standards, was seriously horrified about the lack of a bidet spray. The food she will get over, or pack her cases with Thai spices. Even the weather.

If this doesn’t happen during this period and she doesn’t want to settle in UK I’m sure there is no force to this. She can go back easily. I think the transition to UK life is easier without prior children in the relationship. But this is just my opinion.

It seems pretty common for Thai ladies to leave their kids in the care of extended family for years. And it seems their kids don't think any less of their mother for doing this. Of course she will provide financial support while she is away. I'm 10 years+ from retirement, but lucky enough to be in a job where, in principle, I can relocate to Thailand (or maybe Singapore), so possibly we might end up with a multi-year holiday visa.

So my opinion from the gut is good, good, good and BAD. They are gonna say NO in a heartbeat. Way too risky. Kids. Lots of people dump them with grandma even when they live I Thailand. So that’s worthless. Property. So what. It won’t go away. Employer - who cares - pays a pittance. And no I’m not being nasty. I’m being factual. Or course despite the fact that I’m a genius I might be wrong. But I know how these people think. Kind of like my mum when I said I’d be home by 10 pm

see now we along my line of thinking ! It all seems very vague and the requirements irrelevant so to speak , money in bank I get, proof of return I accept , . She may not stand it , kids wise I’d feel terrible dragging her away from children - albeit this seems accepted . Why thought holiday best option and she would not be here full 6 months more like 2 , as I’d take her back to Thailand to have the child . Maybe it be I end up there albeit I’d live somewhere else than Surin but then I’d come back 6 good months to work . Be nice if could get her here once and if we was in position to travel to and fro easily be nice . I’ve got an agent I’m going talk to see what he suggests

This can be tricky. We tried to get our Mae Baan to come to Europe with us (as well as a trip to the UK) but she failed on reasons to return to Thailand. No land, ni house, no proper job and did not meet the income requirements to support herself even if we sponsored her financially.

Its not that easy. Having said that where there's a will there's a way. Best of luck to you. I'm sure you'll find something that can work.
Robert ************
Wayne Phillips And if you're there with

suitable accommodation, even better.

Invitation letters from family also help: Your mum is looking forward to meeting her future daughter in law, mother of her grandchild etc...your brothers and sisters too. You have an income and prove it.

It's not nearly as hard as people say. Tick the right boxes, present a fat labelled file, evidence of relationship etc. You'll get it

My experience is limited, but I would suggest a "fat labelled file" is not necessarily a guarantee, but supplying documents with concise and correct information is correct. Maybe because I was already married to her made it easier; not like the poor sod in the template letter who went on and on about how he was a director of his own company, with all this turnover, and the exact dates he went to Issan to help uncles, cousins build their houses etc and how much he had spend on their medical care. I took the view that I'm married, and HMG's nosiness stops there, beyond I am paying for all the costs of the trip, and can provide accomodation.

wow thanks for you help . Might be asking as others may have same experience or been turned down etc . The Question was not how to apply …… its was in fact the SUCESS RATE of application . But thanks once again for stating the obvious that I have already done . Google I’d of never even thought of that .

@Wayne *********
you honestly believe that someone here is able to tell you the % of success rate for an application? Seriously!?!? #Stupid

no but like I said they may all say if get knock back or was easy and so forth . So you think google will know the % rate . # thickashell

If nothing productive input move along and let others comment . And baseball caps have a peak to keep sun out eyes 🤔🤣🤯

I agree with you. It's better to hear first hand of any successful/unsuccessful applications. They can point you in the right direction.

Bennito's comment was exceedingly unhelpful.
