TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of obtaining a UK visa for your Thai wife involves several key steps. First, visit the official UK government website to access the visa application form and guidelines. It's advisable to gather necessary documentation including proof of employment, financial stability, and reasons for her return to Thailand (like owning property or having family obligations). Although some suggest using an agent due to the complexity of the application, many expats recommend handling the application themselves if they are confident in gathering documentation. Submitting a thorough application can increase the chances of a successful visa approval. Expect the processing time to be approximately 2-3 weeks, and ensure to confirm details with the British embassy or VFS service center in Bangkok.
nothing to do with showing er off.she retires next week .and never had a proper holiday. It would be a nice 3 week break for her .and me . Very unlikely for me to get another chance Togo back to uk after that .

Make sure you have a reason why she'll need to return to Thailand. Getting my wife a visa, we showed that she had a house/home in Thailand. Also showed that we could financially afford the vacation/trip.

My name is John. I am a British and international lawyer with a law firm here in Thailand and in the UK. part of our services are UK, Visa and immigration, which our UK director has been engaged upon for 15 years. We offer a free no obligation consultation with our UK immigration director, based in the UK, who will go through the merits of the application, the evidence required and our professional fees package where applicable. The Sponsor, you, would have access to both myself here in Thailand and to our UK Director back in the UK. Whilst the applicant would have access to our Thai lawyers and staff for any assistance she needs some of whom have been through the process themselves and have lived and worked in the UK. Should you require any further information please take a look at our website or drop me an email to the following, all of our UK visa applications are regulated by the solicitors regulatory authority in the UK, I hope this helps

If she has a job or business to return to then it will be easy. If not it can be very hard. You need to how enough money to support her plus convince them that she has reson to return.

I don’t know if it had changed or not but I did this 12 years ago took 2 attempts
I was refused the first time by someone who I found out later was refusing every application
I did all the paperwork myself it’s very important to have proof that you have been together for a considerable time
Photos with dates on
E mails printed out
Proof of phone calls
Places that you have been together
Also proof that she has a reason to return to Thailand family or a business
Also proof that she can support herself in the Uk photo copy her bank book make sure there is more than enough funds to support her stay in Uk
Also book return air tickets but be careful if you are refused then have to apply again this takes time so book well ahead or have tickets that you can change if needs be
Also a letter of reference or good character
Also your bank account details proving that you have a decent amount of money
Photo copy and print everything the more the better
Then put it in a folder and make a appointment to apply for visa we had to go to Bangkok
All the best of luck hope hope everything goes well for you

Message me when live in the UK and my Thai wife does visas
we used an agent last year for my Thai girlfriend to visit UK with me, but still had to go to Embassy for an interview but was all over and approved within minutes (I’m assuming she went to the embassy as that’s what she told me. 🤦🏻♂️🤣
or just cross the Rio Grande River to enter the US!

Who ever tells you it's easy has never been through the Process ...I've done all the visa applications up to getting my wife a UK passport... definitely use a agent for the first time...it's a ball ache but so worth the cost.
exactly right ...I used Paul King for.our first application.I really can't fault his process , I know he comes across a little bit ,let's say Different, but he did what he said he was going to do and it all went perfectly.

I need to make sure U have money to support her.
Also make sure she has some money 2 months prior to doing a visa .
Show any house , land , property in her name
Sho a reason why the UK should believe she will return to Thailand like a child left behind , a good job. Etc
I've taken 3 separate girls to UK never married to them.
Last time I used an agent 20k and from walking into the office to land in the UK 2 weeks
Normally a visa agreement is in place so I would have assumed 30 days tourist is no issue, chinese come in the 100's, so does everyone else for that matter 😉

Almost impossible. Check the Govt website for requirements.

My son's new thai wife answered all questions..definitely doesn't want to stay in uk..he hopes to move there at some stage..he just wants to introduce her to his family...using an agent and still a red tape nightmarec
Agent doesn't help. Sadly some expats living in Thailand think it's the same as using a visa agent to get a Thai visa, where a bribe is paid to an immigration officer. Doesn't work that way with UK visa. All UK visas are processed through a separate department at the British embassy in India. Good luck reaching them!
It's easy. Do the application online through the embassy, answer every question, attach relevant documents, then she attends VFS (currently in Soi 13, but I think they're moving soon) to do biometrics. Pay the dosh and you're laughing

There is quite a lot of paper work to be got together and then the online form for VFS in Bangkok . That is the service the UK Gov uses to check visa applications and do the Iris and Fingerprint scans .. So I would suggest you use an agent for first time application for a 6 month tourist visa . Probably around 25 to
you mean a Thai visa agent to do a UK visa application or are there some UK people in Thailand that specialise in this work here?
The last thing I would do is pay a Thai person to do a UK visa application for me, but each to their own I guess.
I saw one on here last week where the agent was clearly clueless about the process and yet taking the expats money.

There are some very good agents in Pattaya , dont know about anywhere else . Example Key Visa . IMO its easy to do yourself if you are confident of gathering all the necessary documentation and attaching it to the Online form for VFS . Check out their web site .

Do thru the uk government web site not agent ! The key bits are. Answer ever question Put prof on every question. If she works get a letter from her employer saying she on vacation. If she own home show this. What they are looking for is that she will return after, that you have enough money to support her, With the gov agency it’s a tick box situation so overkill on info , bank accounts savings etc Took 3 weeks to get a 6 month multi entry. Then 2 weeks to get a further 2 year multi entry
they have good jobs. Thais are notorious for overstaying their visas (at least in the US, same with Filipinos), its basically impossible for a single Thai woman to get a tourist visa and if they don't have a very good job, forget it.
you hsve stated in your response to someone that "they have good jobs' - hence my question to you to define what you consider to be a good job to make that comment.
generally jobs that are obtained because the worker has some level of higher education. The word "stable" probably should have been used, as I don't think there such such thing as a "bad" job...These could include government workers, Doctors, nurses, teachers, people in IT, business owners etc. They probably are not going to give people that have a stall at the market, a tourist visa. I am not saying that the job is less worthy, but these are the criteria in which immigration officials base their decision off..but the point really is, it's not my place to decide what is considered a "good job" or not, but the aforementioned jobs, are the ones that will probably be granted a visitors visa...
That is something I cannot comment on, as I have never had clients that were retired. Part of me thinks it could work in her favor, but then they might potentially think that because she is no longer working, she has no "Ties" back to Thailand that would necessarily draw her back. But, the more you show the officer, house registration etc, the higher her chance of passing is.
part of my job is helping Thai people fill out and file applications for visas to the US and Europe, as well as UK and this is strictly from personal experience.
Engineer so mind geared more towards measurement than time

You will have the difficult task to prove to the UK authorities that your wife has exceelent reasojs to exit UK at the end of her visa. eg, good job in Thailand (letter from employer stating the period of her leave and the lenght of her employment), own house in Thailand (or lomg term rental agreement), need to return to look after child, parent or close relative, proof of ealier travel showing abiding by visa conditions. Difficult for a Thai wife to get UK/US/Australian visa. All have similar requirements.
