TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether it's better to apply for a UK visa for a Thai girlfriend through a visa company or to do it oneself. Most commenters suggest that self-applying through VFS is straightforward, especially for those living in Bangkok. They emphasize that the application process is manageable with the right documents. However, some prefer using a visa agent due to the perceived convenience and reduced stress, especially for those unfamiliar with the process. An underlying theme is the differing levels of comfort and experience among individuals regarding visa applications.

She still has to go to Bangkok for biometrics at VFS global even with an agent. Agents still have to fill the same application form in.It’s not difficult to do yourself

I would choose to self apply through VFS. As long as applicant's meet the criteria. Shouldn't be a problem if submitted along with relevant supporting documents.

Do it yourself especially if you live in Bangkok

It's much easier to get to the office for the interview

Just read everything you will need and you have the money to cover everything

Your biggest problem is to convince them that she will be coming back to Thailand

I used a visa company it’s a lot easier and they took my girl to Bangkok to her appointment. It’s a lot less stress.

What does she do for work?

Because you and your lady get stressed out over going to the VFS office in Bangkok doesn't mean everybody else has the same fear. You can see from other comments people are saying "do it yourself it's easy" - and it is. You really need to drive to an office which is five minute walk from BTS? You pay an agent to drive you there? Seriously? 🤣

@Paul *******
I've done three. Or my lady has. Thank goodness she's not helpless!

@Paul *******
My lady has done in three times. What stress are you talking about? She turns up at VFS. Hands over the paperwork. Pays the money. Couple of weeks later passport is back with visa. Why are some people obsessed with throwing money at agents? 🤣
Paul ********
@Bobby *******
I don’t pay agents for anything but this. I do my own retirement visa every year. I have used an agent for this only so don’t go branding people. But my girl is a true village girl and don’t know much about officials and process of doing things. Stress is transport to Bangkok and finding the embassy. For someone who has only been to two places in her life that’s stress

@Paul *******
My lady's from outback Isaan. Doesn't need to go to the embassy, just to VFS office in Soi 13. So you say don't go branding people and yet you're giving advice based on your lady's fears and stress. Didn't you accompany your lady?
Paul ********
@Bobby *******
no my lady was driven to the British Embassy for her visa interview by the visa agent
Bobby ********
@Paul *******
Ah that's the difference. I'd help my lady out, I wouldn't pay someone to do that. We're all different.
Paul ********
@Bobby *******
so how will you help her out when all you can do is accompany her to the office in the car. We discussed it and she was happy to go alone. Some people 🙄

Do it yourself, piece of cake !! Takes a month or so but relatively easy

I used boss visa for a Schengen visa. 15k up front and 15k IF/WHEN it's approved. Not approved, don't pay anymore than you already did. We were approved within a month and left shortly after

uk is not in schengen.

@Lynnette ******
I didn't say it was, I was just saying that's what I used them for, and the timeline.
Lynnette *******
@Jamie ************
he was asking about UK, and it may be different.

@Lynnette ******
"any advice would be def appreciated"... My advice is to use boss visa, and I said why. I guess some people just have to feel right tho. Where was your advice? Or are you just here to speak to a manager?
Lynnette *******
@Jamie ************
I dont have advice on visas to UK. So didn't give any. Could have given advice on a visa to another country maybe but that won't help for UK.
Jamie *************
@Lynnette ******
so why bother me? I recommended a service, like he asked for. I specified what for. They do more than just Schengen visa, the part I'm sure he'd be interested in is the price and the guarantee. You have no advice, but yet felt the need to still chime in. Go away.
Lynnette *******
@Jamie ************
lol. All I said was UK isn't in schengen and you've had a hissy fit because it "bothered" you. What a tantrum over nothing.
Jamie *************
@Lynnette ******
and what was the point of it? Your ignorance obviously bothered you enough to make an initial comment. Instead of just minding your own business. Either give the guy advice, or kick rocks.
Steve ********
You have to apply through VFS. Straightforward enough. I've done it three times for my lady
