Good afternoon everyone, looking at getting a visa for a Thai girl to visit me in England for a couple of months.

How difficult is this please, also are there companies that can advise and fill out paperwork for us for maybe a better chance of acceptance?

Thank you for your time reading this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a visa for a Thai national to visit the UK can be quite challenging, as applicants need to demonstrate strong reasons for return to Thailand and genuine relationships with sponsors. While some DIY applicants have found success by gathering extensive documentation, including photos and proof of employment, others have opted for professional visa agencies to navigate the complexities involved. Sharing experiences of both application success and denial highlights the importance of thorough preparation and honesty in the application process.

I just did this process to bring my GF to the USA for a visit. We use an law firm and we were not ask to provide any proof of money only what they ask for. I did write a letter inviting her and in the letter I stated all the things I would do for her visit. Insurance place to stay money for to spend airfare and so on. Oh one thing else they ask for her bank statements not mine

We have our hearing September

Thats,a long time mate

@Lee *****
for USA you need to make an appointment

earliest appointment at Bangkok
Paul *******
If she can not prove employment with tax being paid.no hope
Kevin ********
Can do 3 months before you go start then as it took us 2 weeks to get appointment and there is 6 week waiting time for decision. Main points your 6 months bank statements reason to come back to Thailand and solid relationship and the truth.

The hard part is picking out which one you want to visit you
David *******
The most important thing is that she will return to Thailand - has a good reason to return, good stable job, a house land etc. you will need evidence of this.
Grant *******
Take my advise and engage an immigration advisor as they know all the traps and have a much better chance of success

After my wife got her first visa, the second one was a breeze to get. But getting that first one was really difficult. But now she gets a 10 year visa every time we apply.
Simon **********
I applied myself the first time and met all the criteria requested. Application was refused, and I have used an agent the next three times without any issues. Basically you need to bombard them with a mountain of evidence and as already posted by others, one of the biggest items is a compelling reason for her to return to Thailand after the holiday. Our application is typically 2-300 pages of photos and messages etc
James *******
@Simon *********
if you use an agent. They were bombarded with money not with evidence.
Simon **********
@Ja***
not true, certainly not in my experience. The application is processed in India, not Thailand, so unless they have some special relationship with India they are only doing a service.
Lee ******
@Simon *********
The more proof you can give the the more difficult it is for them to Refuse
Simon **********
@L**
exactly, when we spoke to an agent after she said, they are looking for a reason to refuse, so give them so much information and proof there’s nothing they can use as an excuse for denial.
Lee ******
@Simon *********
we used an agent the first time round an got the visa then covid hit us an her visa expired this time I submitted it myself on the strength of the last 1 so hopefully no refusals Although I did receive an email from them informing me the visas are takin longer to process this time round as our Neighbours from Ukraine are top priority
Simon **********
@L**
we have just done an application last week, current processing time is 6 weeks plus. We were offered a “expedited service” at the VFS office for
*****
THB, and as our trip is in four weeks we coughed up.

You have to do what you have to do mate 👍

Its all about the invitation letter. Be honest. Dont follow a formatted letter. Obviously pass the criterea, you need money enough to take care of her, 6 months bank statements, 6 month wage slips. She needs biometrics and 'reason to return" doesnt have to be a job, can be family, children property etc. You then need to prove where she will be staying, mortgage, deeds etc. Also 2 x utility bills. Oh and if youve met her less than 2 years, no chance. If youve met her in person and have photos good to go. Then finally photocopies of all your stamped passport pages and first page from both. Be careful that the stamps match when you say you visited her in Thailand if they dont, its a reject.

Easy!!!! 🤣

I have worked with immigration for many years and that is a very good list of things to include. One thing that also helps to demonstrate the level of commitment is a mutual bank account, dual insurance policy, , owning a house as well as other smaller things together and anything with a dual connotation is a positive as well as having a life insurance with the other as beneficiary all help to demonstrate the level of commitment. Airplane tickets showing you travelled together both hilight you being together as well as demonstrate your Gf has left and came back to her country of origin. Good to note that Immigration agents in most developed countries work with a point system and putting all this info together only helps to gather more valuable points. The only photo I usually recommend is a couple photo taken with a newspaper in 3 stages: one far away but still showing the front page of the paper and 2 subsequent close up to finally feature the date on the paper. Hope this helps and best of luck !

Its not the law mate, its a rule of thumb like many things with visa applications.
Andy **********
@Ste ******
2 years ? Show me where that pearl of wisdom is in the law ?

The truth is that if you are weak then she needs to be stronger and the best scenario is if she doesn't need your sponsorship to go to the UK for a holiday.

There is no magic 2 years

Numerous times I read your comments and Not one of them had any substance of positivity, nor any constructive potential whatsoever... Perhaps best to get out of your throll hole, sell the computer and go share your distorted opinions at the bar, maybe there you can find someone who cares or better yet, find someone to set you straight.
Michael ***********
@Ste ******
We applied for a U.S. visitor visa two times and they never looked at any paperwork, let alone a letter, either time. Both times she was declined without any explanation.
Ste *******
@Michael **********
Does she have a steady job?
Michael ***********
@Ste ******
Yes, she had steady long-term jobs, both times we applied.
Gordon *******
Go onto the gov web site & it will tell you everything you need , don’t waste money using an agent it’s pretty straight foreword , as long as you have plenty of photos of you together (not sitting in bars) video/call logs ect , maybe get turned down at 1st but perceiver

It’s very simple and straightforward. I’ve done this 5 times now for my GF. just complete the form online. Then gather all your information to back up your relationship ie video/phone calls and photos of you both.

Proof of reason to return i.e rental agreement/home ownership and details of any dependants. She doesn’t need to have work as you will be sponsoring her in the UK
Kevan **********

Mike *******
@Kevan *********
hi, do you have a link 🔗 to the online forms? Thx
Rich *****
It’s a numbers game, before my wife came to the UK on a settlement visa we visited the UK and she had visitor visas. Sometimes they’d get refused and we would re-submit without any changes and they would be granted. Don’t be despondent if the first is refused.
Philip **********
Write her a letter of invitation stating that you will cover all costs. Lodging, food, health insurance, etc. Provide 6 months of bank statements showing that you can actually afford it. If she has a travel history then show that also. Buy a refundable round trip ticket for her. If you don’t get a visa for her then get a refund. It comes down to her having a reason to return to Thailand. The more proof the better. Keep us posted.

Don’t pay an agent. They can’t guarantee anything.
Asbjørn **********
Can't she come as a tourist?
Steven ***************
@Asbjørn *********
.that's her only option.. and she needs to prove she can afford it and has a reason to return. Eg tax paying job to return to, a child, a mortgage or rental lease, money in her bank account, etc. Australia is same , unless someone is prepared to fully sponsor her financially and prepared to take legal responsibility if she does a runner.
Amy ******
@Steven **************
Yes. Australia also check on the relationship and personal contact history between the visitor and sponsor.
Asbjørn **********
@Steven **************
wow. In Thailand they keep track of all the tourists, and if they fail to leave they start searching.
Martin *********
They basically look at her reasons to return.

If she has none then even with a long term relationship you won't get one.

Good luck.
Pete **********
They will also want to know what your girlfriends employment is and require proof with wage slips.
Harvey *****
@Pete *********
letter from employer is fine

If none of you try an bullshit the immigration people mate then it's straightforward just fill in a few forms an away you go

We thought that -That,s why we did it ourself( I think like a lot of people have said - A lot of these people are Hustlers ...)

The first agent I used in pattaya before covid charged

the visa was awarded Aroplane booked everything sorted then covid came visa expired an plane ticket refunded this time was straightforward

@Lee *****
I think that is a naive opinion with respect . I have a Thai Wife . We went through a lot of time /money /sweat to get a Temporary /Visitor visa .We submitted our applications through VFS in Thailand ( They process the paperwork in India)
Ivan *********
I guess it is for reasons of Cost ? We processed our own paperwork( But agents wanted to charge us

,000 Bahts . My wife used to work for a Thai shipping company ( so she is very good at IT and dealing with paperwork)

@Ivan ********
wow that's an obscene amount of money to pay an agent mate
Lee ******
@Ivan ********
Not really mate im going through it now for my Thai partner to come to the uk on a 6 month holiday visa an to be honest its pretty easy to process we told the truth an gave them what they wanted photos documents etc can I ask why do they process the paperwork in India
Jamie ******
@Lee *****
many embassies process paper work in a third country, possibly to minimise corruption.
Lee ******
@Doug *********
I really never knew that mate Thanks
Damien ********
If you met her while you where on holidays in Thailand one time or on the internet forget it … if she’s your long time ( a few years ) girlfriend and you can prove a history of your relationship…. Maybe 🤔
Paul *******
Start taking photos of you and girlfriend together outside hotels. Get some phots with her family too
Henry *********
It's fairly straightforward if she has a solid job to return to (a "reason to return") and you can demonstrate that you have a genuine relationship. You can complete the online form for her but she will have to submit it and get her biometrics taken at VFS in Bangkok (or Chiang Mai). Allow plenty if time as there are delays in processing UK visas. If you want an agent, I recommend
*****************************
Shaun *********
I’m going through the process now. I decided to do it myself, all the information you have to get for the agent to do, so I thought if I have to get them all the information to proceed I thought I’ll give it a go myself.
Shaun *********
Ps if the girl in question is your gf and you can prove a relationship you stand a chance, if it’s a girl you barely know your wasting your time.

Incredibly difficult. It can be done but certainly not easy. No idea if there are agents that can help. Sorry this is an inbound Thai visa group. You may want to search for a UK visa group.
