What Do I Need to Know About Filing TM30 for My DTV Visa in Thailand?

I’ve rented a condo in Thailand. Tomorrow, I’ll be flying to Thailand and moving into my new home. I have a DTV visa, and this will be my first entry into the country with it.

1) When should I go to immigration for the TM30?

2) If I need to do it immediately, will spending my first night at a hotel mean I won’t have to file the TM30 for the next 90 days?

3) For the first TM30 application, can I go to the immigration office, then do the renewals online?

Apologies, guys. I’m a bit new to all of this. Hope this thread helps others too.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 form is essential for reporting your residence to Thai immigration, and it is usually the landlord's responsibility to file it. First entries with a DTV visa require attention to this regulation. It's best to file the TM30 within 24 hours of moving into your new accommodation. If you stay at a hotel before moving to your condo, that hotel is responsible for filing the TM30 on your behalf. For future renewals of TM30, you may need to visit the immigration office in person for the first report but can often do subsequent ones online. It's recommended to ask for confirmation of TM30 filing to avoid issues regarding your residency status.

You should never go for the TM30, it is your landlord / houseowner / hotel, that by law is obligated to do the TM30.

And it has to happend every time you change location.

Do ask for a screenprint of it, at time of check-in, soooo much easier for all parts involved.

You don't need a TM30 unless you need immigration services. However, it is recommended to have one so that IOs know your whereabouts.

Landlord fills out TM30, you only need it for residence certificate etc. if you have lease/rental contract then essentially you just take that for reporting and don’t worry about TM30 unless you need the cert for license or purchase of vehicle. That’s the case in Samui, but of course could be different elsewhere. After all it’s Thailand and the rules aren’t always the same in different places. Haha

If staying at a hotel initially, enquire and be sure they file a tm30, actually it should be done whenever you stay at a new place, but, if you aren't going to need services for 90 days at immigration then as you say you can forget about it. That said, you'll need to make sure a TM30 is filed in the immigration jurisdiction before you file a 90 day report. You'll also need another TM30 filed upon returning to Thailand even if you stay at the same address as well as doing your 90 day report in person 90 days after you return, you can enquire at the local immigration office about their policy on this reporting after returning from abroad, but most will require it. In theory you'll only be filing one 90 day report on each entry, possibly two depending on whether you bounce or get an extension (not recommended). So in all likelihood each 90 day report will be done in person.

When are you all planning on using your tm30? I have never had one and never plan on filling one out. I have also never been asked for my tm30.

You would be asked for it for extensions, 90 day report or asking for a certificate of residency.

been here 11 years and never done a 90 day report. That’s just a good excuse to travel every 90 days. By extension you mean extending the visa because you haven’t left? If that’s what you mean then I’m not going to worry about that either. Easy to travel somewhere every 90 days.

What? What is it all about? Where did you get this info? Soon I’ll be in Vietnam for the dtv and will come back to Thailand. What is about about tm30 that I need to do within 24 hours? Didn’t know about it.

If someone can explain please or refer me to a place where I can learn more I’ll appreciate that!!🙏🏻

TM30 needs to be completed by the owner of the property ie condo? Hotels etc within 24 hours of a foreigner arriving

No it is for everyone. Even Visa Exempt ie tourists staying at a hotel etc. Times when they will ask for it is applying for an extension, your 90 days report or applying for a Certificate of Residence. There may be others but I am not aware of.

📍Ask the agent or owner to register you online for TM30(start date of stay and when it will end—just base on your room contract)and ask for the copy of the TM30 receipt.

📍If they can’t do it, then ask them to hand you a hard copy of the rental contract, ID copy of the owner, copy of House Registration book(tabien baan) ALL MUST BE SIGNED BY THE OWNER.

Then you go visit the

and register yourself. make sure get the receipt just wait couple of minutes and it will show receipt is ready to download…..

But I still need to visit for the first TM90 reporting at the immigration office after 90 days. Right?

The form is not called TM90. It is actually TM47. The name is the government form number. It doesn't have anything to do with it being due every 90 days.
