I've messaged my landlord and he is in the process of doing it as I seen some information that the landlord has to notify the government...but what do I need to do? It's my first time in Thailand...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 form is a notification that landlords must submit to the Thai immigration authorities whenever a foreigner moves into their property. As a new expat on an STV visa, it’s essential for you to ensure that your landlord files this form. Once submitted, request a copy of the TM30 from your landlord, as you will need it for your upcoming 90-day visa extension application in March.

Ask for a screen shot of the receipt.

He's in the process of doing it? Does he have a copy of the data page of your passport, your current entry date etc?

In theory it is the land lord's responsibility to do it, BUT some don't and that means it's you that does it.

As
@B**
said, once the land lord has filed a TM30 get a copy from him because you'll need that to apply for your 90 day extension

You need your landlord to

Print a copy of the TM30 and keep it in your passport

Just so you are clear on what you'll be doing;

You won't renew anything in March :P That visa was stamped used when you came into the country. It's done and what lets you stay here is the red entry stamp you got that stamped you in for 90 days. In March you will apply for a 90 day extension for 1900baht at the immigration office.
