Should I apply for a 60-day tourist visa and leave for Laos to prove my exit, or show my return flight to Dublin for 90 days?

I’m applying for a tourist visa with multiple re entries, it’s 60 days but I can re enter again to extend it, I plan to stay 90 days and have my flights booked should I say on my visa application I intend to stay for 90 days or 60 days and just book a flight to Laos as proof I’m leaving? Or just show them my flight back to Dublin which is 89 days later?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering options for their tourist visa application for Thailand. They have flights booked for a 90-day stay but are unsure whether to indicate a 60-day stay on their application while planning to exit and re-enter Thailand, or to show their return flight to Dublin as proof of exit. Comments suggest that if they hold a passport from the UK or Ireland, they may not need a visa for a 90-day stay and could potentially extend their 60-day visa exemption without a need for a multiple re-entry visa.

Where do you apply to fill in the TDAC
John *******
I arrived from Australia in mid May with a return flight booked in 90 days from entry. My intention is to extend my 60 day visa exemption by a further 30 days.

I was not asked anything at BKK airport immigration and had my passport stamped with 60 day visa exemption.

did you not need the e-visa card or anything? It’s all so confusing 😂 as long as I get the 60 days and don’t need to apply for an e-visa or anything else it’ll be all good

I assume you mean the TDAC. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card. I did that within the 3 days prior to my arrival. Iy is easy to do. That is not related to a visa or visa exemption. Yes I agree it is a bit confusing with all the different visas. But once you find the visa that suits your circumstances, it should be easier. My point was it was clear to immigration that I intended to stay 90 days, which was greater than my 60 day visa exemption stamp, but I was not questioned about my intentions regarding extension of this period up to 90 days.

what e visa card ?are you confused with the TDAC ? It's just an online thing you do 3days or less prior to arrival. Nothing confusing about it.

If you hold a passport from GB or Ireland you don’t need a visa for 90 days as Stepehen explains. Just get a cheap ticket out within the initial 60 days if you’re airline ask for it.

do you know what the e-visa card is about? Do I need it before arrival?

Thomas Reilly

Its just basic information and you fill out this form between 72 - 0 hours prior to arrival.

it is called TDAC, not "e-visa card". It is a digital arrival card, like the old TM6 paper arrival and departure card that was discontinued a few years ago

@Doug ******
a real (!) ONWARD TRAVEL PROOF: a one-way ticket out of Thailand within the first 60 days, by Air Asia from Hat Yai to Kuala Lumpur. Can be found for $36

@Doug ******
In case you then have to buy a one way return ticket, no, that kind of ticket would be the most expensive ticket class. It could come cheaper to buy a one-way ticket out of Thailand with a budget carrier. You need to compare

@Doug ******
if he flies with Thai Airways or Emirates without a visa, they allow a return flight that is within 90 days

You don't need a multiple re entry tourist visa if you are only staying 90 days, depending on your passport. You should get 60 days with no visa, then extend for 30 days at rhe local immigration office

I’ve a British passport it’s just mad confusing cause I’m hearing people say you get 60 days then other people are saying it’s only 30 days starting from may, so I was trying to be safe rather than sorry but thank you

anyone telling you that visa exempt is only for 30 days has not been to Thailand lately. It is currently still 60 days. Enjoy your stay.
Nongnuch ********
@Thomas *******
and even if you only want to stay for 90 days maximum, and don't plan to re-enter Thailand after a first stint abroad, you can do so on a 60-days single entry tourist visa. For the single entry, the visa fee is much less than for the multi entry.

@Thomas *******
there was talk about reducing the visa-exempt stay permit from 60 days back to 30 days, but it never happened. What started on May 1st was the requirement to fill out the online TDAC form (Thailand Digital Arrival Card). Right now you still are stamped in visa-exempt for 60 days, and can buy a 30-days extension on Immigration for 1900.- THB

@Thomas *******
definitely get 60 days arriving with no visa. And can extend 1 time for an additional 30 days
