What should I do if my accommodation in Thailand isn’t confirmed for my tourist visa application?

Hi, we arrive in Thailand early March and just applying for tourist visa. I have a couple of questions please as the application is a bit tricky:

1. Application asks for where you will be staying. We have a place in mind but not confirmed as waiting to see if sandbox will be scrapped. Do we need to book somewhere for when we arrive for the purpose of visa application? It then asks if we are staying else (which we will be ) and to state the name and address. We have places in mind but not confirmed. What’s the best way to answer this please?

2. As I understand we can apply for 60 days initially and extend for an additional 30 during our stay. Is that the max we can stay, 90 days?

Really appreciate any advice!

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a tourist visa to Thailand, you can provide a screenshot of your intended hotel's booking page instead of a confirmed reservation. Regarding the duration, you are correct that the initial tourist visa is valid for 60 days and can be extended once for an additional 30 days, allowing a maximum stay of 90 days.

Most embassies will be fine with you just submitting a screenshot of the booking page of the hotel you are thinking about, or going to the checkout page and sending a screenshot of that.

TR can be extended for 30 days at immigration, yes. It should result in a total of 90 days.

thanks Brendon, really helpful. I’ve been on our applications all afternoon and it’s asks for financial evidence; proof of earnings, bank statement etc is just a bank statement enough showing balance? The next part is letter from employer, school, self assessment but I’ve just left my job as we’re travelling for the rest of the year… it’s got one of those red dots as in you have to attach something…! This is way more complex than I imagined!

Thanks Brandon, going to go back though it tomorrow. Did you mean the employment letter doesn’t apply for a tourist visa? If you don’t mind could you pls send the link to application form you used?

I used evisa also, but it didn't ask me for an employer letter.

But keep in mind that some countries have different requirements

that could be it. I was on hold for 2 hours with Thai embassy yesterday, finally answered but transferred me to visa department and got cut off!! will continue to seek advice today. How long are you expecting to wait to have visa ready?

@Fern *******
Yes a bank statement is fine. I think they want to see in the range of $600 as the official requirement to enter Thailand is to have 20,000 baht or equivalent but it's VERY RARELY enforced.

I just filled out the visa application yesterday and I don't remember a question about letter from employer. What does it specifically say on the application?

these are all the supporting documents required. I was surprised at the employment section for a tourist visa. Bank statement is no probs but when I download one is shows all my transactions, suppose I could print, go over with a marker and scan back in! Do you think a statement out of an ATM would be enough? Really appreciate your advice here 🙏🏼

@Fern *******
are you sure you selected tourist visa? I don't remember that question at all.

For bank statement I only included first page and blacked out the account number.

If you're going for a tourist visa, that question doesn't apply, so just upload the data page of your passport again to get past it.
