TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about obtaining a 60-day tourist visa for Thailand given that their round trip flight is booked for 66 days. There are concerns regarding the Thai Embassy's requirements and the possibility of extending the visa once in Thailand. Several comments suggest that the embassy typically checks the incoming flight date to issue the visa. Some also warn about potential issues with airline ground staff depending on the flight dates. Ultimately, the user plans to contact the embassy for further clarification and may adjust their travel dates to match the visa requirements.

Cheers everyone. I emailed the embassy. If they don't reply within a week I'll just send off for 60 days and change my trip to 60

I'm from Sydney

I had a return ticket for 90 days and had applied for TR60 .

I ask the consulate that question she told me that they only look at the incoming flight to issue COE and I would not have any issue .

Cheers! I have one free change left with the airline as they cancelled and rescheduled me so maybe I'll shorten the trip by 6 days then decide what to do once in Thailand

It's risky, it's not only a matter of the embassy accepting the dates and issuing a COE, but the airline ground staff at the gate might refuse you boarding when you try to get to Thailand since you don't have an onward ticket in the allowable timeframe.

You can get a SETV then extend it for 30 days at the immigration office for ฿1,900

you're the expert re Germany ...your suggestion?

IMHO...

I doubt that the Thai Embassy in Germany will issue the visa with return flight later than 60 day from arrival date

Remember that the arrival date is counted as Day #1 in Thailand
