TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a TR visa in Thailand, it is advisable to indicate a return flight for the 60 days allowed by the visa rather than the 90 days you intend to stay. Based on shared experiences, applicants often receive requests for proof of exit within the initial visa duration. However, it may vary depending on the specific embassy or consulate handling your application.

It totally depends on which Thai embassy/consulate you are applying for TR. Some require a return ticket, some don't.

And if they don't require return ticket for TR doesn't mean you are not asked to show it on the other occasion till you enter Thailand...

I just did my TR evisa and they emailed me within 4 hrs asking for my departure ticket showing by the 60 days - not the 90 that I am hoping to stay

Do you need to get the 60 days tourist visa before doing the THAILAND PASS? Or is already included in the THAILAND PASS? Thanks

they are two separate things.

when I applied for a visa I was asked how long my stay was and I entered 89 days and was then advised to apply for a 60 day visa, there was on the same page notification that the visa could be e tended to 90 days. I uploaded a 89 day return. Visa granted. COE applied for, granted.

PS it is not a return that is needed but proof of onward travel POOT so a one way to say KL or a ticket where you loan a POOT can be used if they insist

I had my departure ticket for 89 days - they asked for 60 - so I bought a “cheap” one to KL as a disposable ticket. But my evisa is going through the LA consulate, they may be sticklers

The tourist visa allows entry for 60 days, but is valid for 90 days. The tourist visa can be extended ONCE for another 30 days.

the Thai pass system is completely different than getting a visa.

yes. I had a ticket with the assumption that I would be getting the 30 day extension. The evisa didn’t care about that. I was pretty impressed with the fast response asking for a 60 day departure flight

Yes...as you may be asked for it when you apply for the tourist visa ....

And again at check in for your flight and again on arrival in Thailand.
