Me and my wife are traveling to Thailand in 01/12/2023 on a 90 day O visa . My granddaughter aged 20 decided she would like to come. So I applied for a 90 day O visa for her but was told her paperwork was not in order for a 90 day visa and my application cancelled can I still get her a 30 day on entry

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster's granddaughter, who was supposed to travel to Thailand with them, faced issues in obtaining a 90-day O visa due to paperwork being in order. Several commenters suggested that if her nationality permits, she could enter Thailand on a 30-day visa on arrival, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at an immigration office. Other options discussed included applying for a 60-day tourist visa, which would also be easier and allow a subsequent extension without the need for a border run. The conversation highlighted the importance of her nationality in determining visa eligibility.

your granddaughter could apply for a 60-days single entry tourist visa. She'd receive 60 days stay permit and can extend once, for 1900.- THB, for 30 more days on Immigration. This would be much easier than having to "border bounce"

The London RTE issues the eVisa in 3 to 5 working days typically, it's worth a try because even if it arrives after you get to Thailand you can still use it on the one border bounce that will be necessary to get 90 days and there will be no extensions this way (£30 for the visa is less than the 1900B for an extension). Apply today.

oops, sorry, I missed to notice your soon to be departure date
Marijke ********
You should apply separate from you. Try the 60 days visa and do border run 1 time for 30 days more

@Marijke *******
60-day visa you get 30 day extension at immigration office. No need for border bounce

I know a lot of people are getting student visas. You might want to try that.

@Steven *******
I don’t need a visa. I already have one. Perhaps you replied to the wrong person?

There is rife speculation that they are about to change the entry regulations for European passports to 90 days on entry. Nothing is confirmed so no one knows dates when that may happen. Watch this space to see any official updates.

make sence

@Andrew **********
Not sure if that is a command or a statement

either just saying make sence as other countries doing it.

When I mentioned European I meant it in the general sense that “most” European (and UK) passports will get the change. Sadly for places like Malta I suspect little will change.

European passports? But UK not European anymore. Wonder if they may include us too.
Stuart *********
@Lynnette ******
Yes. As far as I know UK would be included in the change. I won’t go in to the stupidity of the UK not being in the EU anymore. That’s for a different forum 😀
Lynnette *******
@Stuart ********
thanks. Just wondered if they'd be good enough to include us as honorary Europeans. 😊

Europeans are far beyond being only the ones living on "the continent". The English used to rate themselves as "island monkeys" less than being "Europeans", until the Tunnel from Dover to Calais was finished. After this, they changed from "island monkeys" to being "chunnel rats" 😎
Lynnette *******
@Nongnuch *******
fortunately I've never considered myself an island monkey or a Chunnel rat. But I don't choose to call myself or anyone else stupid names.
Nongnuch ********
@Lynnette ******
btw I am a German bloke, never in ma whole life called the English "island monkeys", it was Willy Robinson from Liverpool. He told it me two days ago during our journey to Koh Chang. We shared a good laugh
Nongnuch ********
@Lynnette ******
my buddy from Liverpool does not mind being called a monkey. He is at the very moment sitting in our guest bedrooom with his laptop, watching from the virtual "The Kop" the todays match LFC vs Man City. A real tunnel rat match 😂 😂 becoz' so many players are not U.K. born but "invaded"

@Lynnette ******
It's all rumour at the moment so I wouldn't spend too much time thinking about it

As long as her nationality allows for a visa exempt entry then she’ll get 30 days on entry. She can extend that once for 30 days at a local immigration office.

Without knowing nationality it’s just a guess that she could.

we are UK passport holders

@Stuart ********
too get upto the 90 days she could do a border bounce to gain another 30 after the original 60, either by land or plane
Stuart *********
@Stuart ********
Ok then currently she’d get 30 days and can extend for 30. Perhaps that may change to 90 days in the very near future but nothing is confirmed as yet.
