What type of visa should I get to accompany my daughter to Thailand for 90 days?

Trying to figure out what visa I need to get. Please advise....

I'm accompanying my 16 yo daughter to Thailand for 90 days. She will have a non imm b visa for working. We hope to stay an additional 8 days after her work is done to travel. I "think" her work visa can be extended without issue?. But I'm the issue with my Visa.

One embassy said I should get non imm O because I'm her chaperone but when I look at what that Visa says it's about it doesn't say anything about what I needed for but I like that it is for 90 days and I'm assuming can be extended if my daughter needs to stay longer. Can I then extend this so we can travel?

The TR Visa is good for 60 days plus 30. But then do I have to leave or can it be extended again? This would be my easiest option if it can extend again.

The STV seems like it might work but asks for so much stuff and I really only want 8 more days not 180 so might be overkill in work getting it.

Any thoughts, the embassy gives me different answers depending on what day it is so I'm unclear. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user needs guidance on the appropriate visa for accompanying their 16-year-old daughter to Thailand for 90 days, during which she holds a non-immigrant B visa for work. The user is considering a non-immigrant O visa, which is suggested for dependants, but is also exploring the TR visa option due to its possibility of extension. They express concerns about the complexity of the STV and the inconsistency in information provided by the embassy.

modeling and no way I was letting her go alone.

entirely allowable. No info from the OP as to what work but as pure speculation something like modelling. The OP says she is accompanying her as a guardian but nothing to stop the daughter from working if all paperwork in order.

Non Imm O. It covers 'dependant relatives'.

wanted to let you both know your advice was perfect. I was able to get the non O with my daughter's nonB. LA embassy was great. I just am not sure if we'll be able to easily extend past our 90 days.

We're in asq now. Thank you both!

is this pretty straightforward to do? and this would work even though my daughter is from the US? Or is this difficult and a pain in the butt and I'm better off just doing a tourist visa? Thank you!

Should be fairly straightforward, if I remember rightly you'll need paperwork confirming your daughters Non Imm B and paperwork confirming your relationship status to her. When/if she applies for her extention of stay in Thailand you can 'piggy-back' on her extention.

in theory your daughter gets her non immigrant B visa and you can piggyback off of that with a non O guardian visa. I say in theory because that’s the way it should/could happen but in practice I have no idea if the embassy/consulate you’re applying at will allow. It’s a very unusual situation you have and very few people would have done it before. Please let us know how you get on with your application.

The non B visa is not extendable for any other period than 1 year. You can’t add on 8 days. A tourist visa is extendable once for 30 days. After that you must leave or find an alternative extension. The STV is a pain in the arse visa option. Perhaps it may be your best option but I sincerely doubt it. Up until March 30th anyone can apply for a “unable to travel due to Covid “ extension. It gives you an extra 60 days for 1,900. Whether that date is extended is speculation but most think it will be ongoing until the borders open up. No guarantee but pretty likely.

your daughter can’t change / extend her visa to anything else (other than the unable to travel due to Covid extension if that’s still available). The year extension option is only available if her employer has all the paperwork and manpower in place to make that happen. I’m guessing that wouldn’t be an option in your case.

You don’t ever want to go into overstay here. The fine is only 500 baht per day, but that’s if you get to the airport. A whole shit show of problems if you are caught prior to getting to the airport. You’d have broken the law and all sorts of stuff that could happen. Jail - Deportation and all sorts of stuff. Just not a thing you want to do. It doesn’t happen often but it can happen and you seriously don’t want any of that stuff to happen to you.

thank you for the reply. yes I'm finding the STV to be more difficult for sure. If I do the normal TR and can't extend for the extra time the gal at embassy said I can just pay the fine. When I mentioned being worried about that and not being allowed back in again she said that wouldn't happen and I'd be fine. But it does make me nervous.

If I do TR does that mean I can only buy my plane ticket to return in 60 days even though my daughters will show 90? Or can I buy both of them for a 90-day duration knowing that we will extend or does that mean they will deny our Visa if they see a return flight being further than our Visa allows? Ideally I'd like to buy a ticket for 98 days.

Can my daughter turn her visa into a TR in order to travel? How much is it if she extends the work visa? I thought they could just extend it a bit if she still needed to stay here longer for a job.
