What visa options are available for accompanying a daughter on a work visa in Thailand?

Need Visa Advice:

My 16yo daughter will be coming to Thailand for a 90 day contract. I will be accompanying her. Her visa will be a work visa good for 90 days but I was thinking I would have to get a tourist visa and then extend it. I called the Embassy today and she said I should apply for a Non Immigrant O visa since I will need to come to chaperone my daughter. When I looked up the O visa it didn't sound like it would work for me.

I'm worried because I think I need to book our return flight in advance and if my visa was only 45 days then the return flight would be different for both of us. Our goal is to stay about 2 weeks after her contract and travel. So we will need to find a way to extend a 90 day visa for 2 weeks. I heard there was a daily fine/fee we could pay for going over our visa but I can't find any info on that.

ANy help on what I should do to make this easier on me would be great. I think the retirement visa is not really for me since I really only need to be there for 100 days or so. I've read a bunch but still feel clueless on how to make this happen.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on visa options for accompanying their daughter to Thailand for a 90-day work contract. They are unsure whether to apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa or a tourist visa and express concern about needing to book return flights accommodating different visa durations. Comments suggest that applying for a Non-O dependent visa could be an option with employer documentation. However, overstaying is heavily advised against due to fines and possible legal issues, and both users are warned about specific quarantine requirements.

Depends on your and your daughter's age, you may be able to apply for Non-O dependant to Non-B holder if her employer agrees and provide all necessary documents.

Or you apply for a normal tourist visa, it will give you 60days on your entry and you can apply for 30days extension after it's up.

Anyway, your daughter will be also stamped for ONLY 90days and no extension would be available (under normal circumstance) other than 1 year extension. Unfortunately, 100days stay wouldn't work for both of you...

... For your daughter, it maybe possible if her employer provides all documents for 10 days more.

Thank you for your reply. I just talked to the Embassy in DC and she recommended the tourist visa for me or the STV. I'm going to look into that. It sounds like I can extend that.

If I end up doing the 60day and extend 30 do I have to purchase my return flight with the 60days in mind and then change that? So in essence I need to make two different flights for my daughter and I since her visa is for 90 days?

What you are trying to do is not really possible nor is it practical.

NEVER OVERSTAY !!!

500 Thai baht fine per day...but if stopped may be arrested and deported.

Neither of you have options to extend your stay beyond 90 days.

And both of you will be required to quarantine in Bangkok 15 days at your cost..estimate

30,000 Thai baht per person and up....as ASQ rooms are per person not per room.

I'm aware of the quarantine and the cost.

I have called the embassy in LA and DC and gotten two different answers. I posted this question to get suggestions on what may work.

What I was just told by the embassy is my daughter can possibly extend her work visa, I can apply for an STV Travel Visa for 90 days and can possibly extend that one time. So if what she is telling me is correct then that would work for us.

I also asked about overstaying for a short time without an extension and she told me I would probably pay a fine when leaving but would not be arrested or put in jail. I understand there is always that risk and I'd like to avoid it.
