Hi lam coming tomorrow Thailand on the 25th of November with a 60 day visa free entry, but would like to extend it to 90 days.

Is it possible to ask on arrival for the extra 30 days or should l wait and extend my stay by going to an immigration office in Bangkok ?

Also as l have a Thai friend who will be picking me up l do not have a hotel reservation or proof of Accommodation, but will be staying at a resort but will book when l arrive, would this be a problem on arrival without proof of accommodation.

Thanks for any help.

Paul.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their 60-day visa-free entry to 90 days upon arrival in Thailand and whether proof of accommodation is necessary. Responses indicate that extensions must be done at a local immigration office rather than at the airport, and that it's possible to provide a TM30 registration form from a Thai friend instead of a hotel reservation. While proof of accommodation and funds may be requested upon entry, it's not guaranteed to be enforced.

You and your friend can do an MT30 on line and just put his address, when you get it back just print and keep it for when you go to apply for the 30day extension. If you stay at a resort you can ask for an MT30 but quite often they wonโ€™t supply them. You could get your friend to send you a letter inviting you to stay with the address clearly in the letter, you can show this if asked by immigration when arriving.

They shd stamp for 60 and you extend at CW immigration before expiry in north Bangkok. Cost is 1900b. Maybe stay in a hotel the first night so you have an address for immigration, so your friend doesn't have to do tm30

If you bought a Tourist Visa from a Thai Embassy/Consulate outside Thailand before you entered you get your extension from the main Immigration Office at Chaengwattana, Building B, Counter J. If you entered on visa-exempt you are going to go to IT Square, Laksi Plaza (3rd Floor) temporary office, just next to Lak Si station of SRT Dark Red Line. All extensions cost 1900B.

right yes but when you go for extension you will need an MT30 form, a passport size photo and passport then you fill in another form while you are there and pay 1900B. Also copy of your passport, some centres do it for you.

You can not extend your entry stamp in Bangkok until you have 45 days, or less left on your entry stamp. Other locations in the country require less than 30 days, and a few locations require that you have less than 7 days left. You can not immediately extend your entry.

You must extend at a local immigration office.

Your friend can give you an invitation letter if you are staying with them.

You can book free cancellation hotels.

The 3 proofs that can be asked of you ( personal experiences have nothing to do with the law):

Proof of exit

Proof of accommodation

Proof of 20k baht or equivalent currency in CASH.

Most times you will never be asked for these things but don't be shocked if they do ask.

You canโ€™t get the extension at the airport. Itโ€™s rare that they ask for accommodations unless you look homeless.
