Can I enter Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption and then extend my stay if I have a return flight within 60 days?

I normally apply through the Thai Embassy in London for a 2 month tourist visa with a British passport However with the new online system seemingly not very user friendly what with having to show a confirmed flight and hotel booking before being granted the visa,if I were to fly into Thailand and get a 30 day visa exempt at BKK if I were to have a return flight within 60 days of arrival, with the intention of extending for 30 days inside Thailand would that cause me a problem either with the airline or at Immigration Also on the TM6 would I put my departure as provisionally after 30 days All advice greatly appreciated TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the feasibility of entering Thailand on a 30-day visa exempt entry with a return flight booked for 60 days after arrival, intending to extend their stay within Thailand for an additional 30 days. Responses indicate that entry should not pose an issue if proof of onward travel is provided, but they caution checking with the airline regarding their policies on flying without a visa. Additionally, the TM6 form should reflect departure intentions after 30 days.

There is nothing wrong or complicated with the Evisa system.

Christ, I can work it off of my phone.

All the problems are user error.

Tip of the day....get used to it because it is coming to an Embassy near you very soon.

here's the thing. All these little work arounds that you smart people keep coming up with, are the very reasons why they put these systems and restrictions in place.

When the day, not so far away comes, when you simply cannot get visas without going home, you'll wonder why 🤔

just book a fully refundable flight and cancel when you arrive. Simples

regarding airlines at Heathrow, they are pretty hot on onward flights within 30 days if your flying in and wanting a visa exempt entry. It's going to be their call if they will board you or not.

I cannot say what other UK airports are like

sorry Ron I thought you were having a go at me 😀😀However you must admit it has been made rather awkward in the fact that you have to show a confirmed flight booking before being given the visa As far as the airlines are concerned do you think a return flight after 60 days would cause a problem in your opinion I realise you can't give a definitive answer just after your opinion?

it's already here as I said in London Its not the fact that it's complicated I'm pretty sure I'm intelligent enough to navigate it on my phone My comment was concerning having to provide flight and hotel bookings at the risk of being decline 're Scott Mcallum comment

No two immigration officers or airline agents are the same but I think you will not have a problem as long as you have your story straight. I see Tod has also replied and always follow his advice. I am a lifelong IT guy and find it depressing to see that the pathetic e visa system is actually driving people away.

you are so right mate They seem to be making it so difficult for us Westerners Previously it was so simple to do by post but now having to show a confirmed flight booking and then possibly being denied the visa is just crazy As far as my story being straight Scott I've nothing to hide and never overstayed I'm just looking at options Thanks for your input

you are unlikely to have a problem with passport control entering on a 30 day visa exempt entry with proof of onward travel scheduled 60 days out because they know you can apply for a 30 day extension.

You need to check with your air carrier though because flying without a visa (on a visa exempt entry) they might require proof of onward travel within the days you're going to get stamped in for

I appreciate your advice it just seems far easier in my opinion the way things are at the moment By the way Tod I've used visa exempt many times and never been questioned by the airline
