Hi, I am looking for some advice from people who recently applied for a visa extension in Phuket town. I want to know what the deal is regarding proof of accommodation. Is it necessary that you bring that and how do I get the right documents and how do I know if a accommodation can arrange those documents? Now here on a 30 day visa exempt! TIA!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a visa extension in Phuket, proof of accommodation is essential. Specifically, while the STV (Special Tourist Visa) requires direct proof, you will still need to provide a TM30 form, which your landlord or hotel must file within 24 hours of your arrival. This form is a requirement for all foreigners residing in properties in Thailand. To ensure compliance, ask your landlord or hotel to print one of the accepted documents that show your accommodation status.
You need to show a TM30. The TM30 should be submitted by a hotel whenever you stay the night. Ask them to print out one of the following documents; all three are accepted by immigration.
staying with family or friends. I can just go to immigration with the address and pick up a TM30 (the top pic) myself, right? Within 24 hours of course.
But almost every activity at immigration requires you to show a TM30 which the property owner is legally required to file for any foreigner within 24 hours of arrival. You should be able to get this from your landlord or hotel.
