TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to visit Thailand and is concerned about staying for 90 days with a 60-day tourist visa and a subsequent 30-day extension. The conversation clarifies that it is indeed possible to obtain the extension once in Thailand as long as all necessary documentation, including a return flight and an onward ticket within 60 days, is provided. Users emphasize the importance of having these tickets to avoid issues with airlines and immigration upon entry.

Answer to your question is yes, I submitted a return ticket for 89 days on my TV application and it was approved.

I contacted my airline regarding any problems at departure checkout , they told me if I have an approved visa and return ticket I will be OK.

But I may buy a cheap bus ticket out of Thailand to comply with 60 days, for peace of mind.

Yes just remember when you stamp in even if it’s 11:59 that counts as day one so be careful not to overstay that one day as many people do

Jim James Still not adding up.

As I understand it:

You have applied for a 60 day Touristvisa, but not got it approved yet, and you will not get a reply until 1-2 weeks before the departure, which is normal, since they process the visa after departure date and not when you apply ( Recommended time to apply is 2 - 4 weeks before departure ).

An 30 days extension to that tourist visa, has to be applied for at a Immigration office in Thailand, and some Immigration offices will not do that until 1-2 weeks before the tourist visa expires.

It will rarely be denied, so don’t worry about that.

On top of your 90 day flightticket, you also need a onward ticket out of Thailand within 60 days, showing you have intentions to leave Thailand within the 60 days.

Without a onward ticket within 60 days you risk to be denied boarding at check-in by the Airline.

once you are in Thailand you won't be refused the extension. It might be delayed for needed paperwork, but it won't be refused once you have everything. This only becomes a problem if you stay in Airbnb rentals instead of regular hotels, as lots of them don't file the paperwork they are supposed to, as they don't pay their taxes, or have the proper license. Other than that you can apply for your extension when you have less than 30 days left on your visa entry stamp.

Get a 60 day tourist visa, and extend it 30 days ( 1900 Baht )at Immigration, then you can stay 90 days with out leaving Thailand.

And you need to have 2 onward tickets, 1 within 60 days, and 1 within the extra 30 days ( Probably the return ticket )

How can you have the 30 day extension ?

Since it can only be applyed for at immigration, after you have arrived in Thailand.

This must be a trick question you say you have TV and 30 day extension visa how can you get 30 day extension when you not in thailand until November I thought to get TV which will cover 60 days in the application you must show passport details also confirmation of flights in and out or in and onward journey also once you arrive in the land of smiles and are through imagination they won't give 2 hoots if you have a return ticket but please beware that entry to Thailand is never guaranteed dependent on the IO infront of you at time of entry Chokh di

Don’t know how you’ve got the visa without a return flight?

A TV plus 30 gives you 90

How did you get a tourist visa from the embassy if you didn't already book your flight? The ticket is part of the application.

Normally the embassy will want to see a ticket out of Thailand within the 60 days the visa will grant.

Also your airline might require you to show proof of leaving Thailand within 60 days before they'll let you board.

Once you actually arrive in Thailand, the passport control officers will not care.
