What proof of accommodation can I provide when applying for a 60-day tourist visa in Thailand without pre-booked accommodations?

Hi everyone,

I'm going to apply for a 60 day tourist visa and plan to extend it another 30 days while there.

The application form says I need to provide proof of accommodation for the entire stay, I don't have a set plan of the whole trip and intend to move around a lot so I won't have accommodation pre booked for the entire stay.

What can I possibly show for this?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 60-day tourist visa to Thailand, you may need to provide proof of accommodation for your entire stay. If you do not have a pre-booked itinerary, suggestions include booking a hotel with free cancellation through sites like Agoda or Booking.com and then printing the reservation to show at your visa application. Some travelers recommend simply showing proof of your first night's accommodation, as many embassies accept this. It is also essential to note that a TM30 form might be required when extending your stay, which your hotel can provide upon check-in.

This video tells you everything you need to know. Summary is you can book a accomodation for 1 night and thats satisfactory. You also only need to provide a 1 way flight, no return flight needed when applying for the multi entry tourist visa.

Just show first booking

Book hotel for a few days, was accepted for 60 days

Book a hotel the first night without paying

Remember that Day 1 is the date you arrive in Thailand, even if it’s one hour before midnight.

As far as I know your first hotel is sufficient

You need to show an up to date TM30 when you apply for a 30 day extension to your 60 day. A hotel booking won't suffice. Most hotels will print you a TM30 on the morning you are going to renew your extension. My advice would be not to try and cut corners. I booked a hotel the night before my renewal then the hotel printed the TM30 for me in the morning. Breezed through immigration. Good luck

Hope someone from New Zealand can assist you. It’s the same thing in Norway, but they anyway accept confirmed booking or stay just for the first night. Some embassies are more strict -as Penang ML- and demand confirmed booking for 60 days.

just list first hotel

Refundable booking. Booking dot com and Agoda offer this for practically any hotel.

Can do the same with flights, if needed.

Make sure that your flight out is not more than 59 nights away from the one in, and that your hotel bookings match the flight dates.

You actually only need to supply your first booking and mention you are travelling.

depends on the embassy. Some strictly require proof of booking for all dates between your entry ticket and your exit ticket. Some even require proof that you paid along with the tax ID number of the hotel.

yes, there appear to be a lot of different interpretations. I just spent 5 wonderful months in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, Thailand mostly without any visa. It's not for everybody but the 30 days on entry does work 😊

I want to do something similar but maybe 60 days at least when I can extend it. Did you have the whole trip booked and planned or just had buses/flights to the next country booked etc?

I booked my flight to Laos before I left but I had to change the date of departure when I only got 28 days instead of 30 ... but in hindsight I should have booked a temporary flight booking until I knew exact dates ... otherwise it was just a pain having only 30 days at a time between having to do paperwork days at an immigration office 😂

i never plan more than a day or two ahead 😂 When you fly in it's best to have at least the first couple of nights booked somewhere near where you are landing. This covers the accommodation question. After that it's up to you, the hotels usually all do the TM30 thing for you. You can extend the 30 days on entry for another 30 days (as I did) and then leave to explore another country for a week, or more if you want, and then fly back in and get another 30 days on entry. I did it three times but I didn't extend the third due to work commitments back in Oz.

we got scolded & chastised to “get a proper visa!” When we did that. And something typed into their computer😨

yes, I guess it depends on the office and the person you strike at the office 😩

Agoda pay at the hotel options. Cancel later.

I have same problem regarding extend as I book on Airbnb and owner cannot give me tm30 as only at time of check in.

Go on Agoda and find a booking that's free cancellation. Book, print, show, cancel booking.
