Build a great relationship with the immediate family. There will be extended family who will try to cause issues. Just make it clear immediate family if they’re in hospital and a life threatening bill needs paying your be the first one there to confirm the price and pay for them. But ‘sick buffalo’ money isn’t happening.

I personally have a great marriage with someone who has a stronger work ethics than my self.

There are a some who want a farang husband for the right reasons, not what alot think money and face etc.

Also make sure your wife changes her name to yours, every time she shows her ID card in the Bank etc she gets asked if she actually Thai with the surname changed to mine.

Makes married life that bit more entertaining!

I walked in, maybe 1 hour and half with sitting around waiting for them to make the two licenses. Yellow book makes it a lot easier otherwise a trip to immigration to get proof of address would of made it longer. I did have to pop out for a medical which was 100 baht, and 305 baht for both licenses.

I’ve just got my Thai motorcycle and car license, on Monday this week. Admittedly the paperwork on Thai side requirements Ie non immigrant visa, proof of address etc( I used yellow book) I showed my U.K. license which is in date and sat for hour watching a video. I got both licenses without further tests or hassle.

What ever you do, don’t send your U.K. driving license and try to change it to your Thai address. They will not send you a new one again, until you have a U.K. address again.

You can extend for 60 days, staying with thai wife they call it or something. Then make sure your over 400k or open a separate account to pay your day to day money into and leave your 400k alone if it’s possible. Hopefully that will give you time needed to get back in line with the money in the bank requirements.

I spoke to the boss and she told me to wait maybe get another automatic extension. I tried to say that the Thai immigration advice and showed them the press releases wouldn’t have it! And they told me because I live in smat Prakan the Bangkok office won’t deal with me. So will be a cluster on the 25th as the 26th is a Saturday.

Try telling smat Prakan immigration that. Went yesterday and they wouldn’t have it! They said come back 26th if I want the visa extension to start from 26th! Was there 4 hours!
