I’m trying to source info on taking my Thai girlfriend to Australia for a few days to a week. I’m a British passport holder. It’s not something I want to do for a few years as got a lot of Asia to explore first but thinking about a trip in maybe few years. how will that work me being British and her Thai or will it be impossible or very expensive trip with all the bs like her coming to uk I have to do.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is considering traveling to Australia with their Thai girlfriend in a few years and seeks information regarding visa requirements. Commenters share experiences indicating that obtaining a visa is manageable, emphasizing the importance of proper documentation and proof of ties to Thailand for the girlfriend. A sponsored visa was mentioned as a viable option, requiring both financial proof from the British partner and legitimate reasons for the Thai partner to return to Thailand after the visit.

She is excellent at this

The visa was multiple entries.

Up to three months duration.😁

So you could wangle 15 months theoretically.

Last, enter month 12 and do a last three months.

This is a list i put together last time.

(Early December)

Put it all in a nice little plastic wallet with pockets A4.

The lady went through and.

Not need.

Not need.

Ok.

Letter good.

We had a laugh.

I commented on her good English.

She say come back 5 to 7 days to collect.

But.

They now deliver back to you so you dont need that return pickup trip.

Plus they do the biometrics at the first drop off meeting.

All of ten minutes at Trendy building.

BTW.

You can upload online the documents now i read.

Plus some contries qualify for the E visa. Only $20...

I apologise for this not being strictly Thailand visa stuff, but it does affect many of us...

If it rejects or denies there is normally a reason lurking in the background on thier systems...

So well worth talking to your partner and asking her/he, is there anything.?

Good luck.

Copy of check list would be great

Still don't know why so many say it's hard to do.?

Even my Thai partner tells her friends they talk rubbish now.

It's about 15 minutes of on line plus print it out.

Of course the few happy snaps help.

But proof of savings, Job, family reasons to return, it's minor...

The easiest way to do this is write a letter saying you sponsor the person and are responsible for the costs of travel and support.

That's it... not compicated.

Pay the 4700 baht including biometrics.

Did the last one four weeks ago.

They gave me a multiple entry 600 class valid for up to 3 months each entry, and one year.

We leave Melbourne on a cruise next week.

Then back to oz.

Then LOS.

BTW.

UK is just as easy.

Took 10 minutes on line.

Sits there now until I set a date to attend Bangkok and pay the fee.

I've heard the tales of woe.

Paid 50,000 and still not get.

Need to know how many times you do boom boom. Need to put 50,000 in my bank account tilac.

Agents get NO priority here.

So save the 25,000 or 30,000 and do it yourself.

You may have to get a couple of documents translated and verified.

But honestly, it's not hard...

More than happy to post a copy of a check list I put together..

But the sponsorship or responsibility letter is pure gold....

My gf says she's not surprised that some get denied.

They walk in semi dressed and the tattoos showing.

Badges of trade.

Looking like they just stepped out of soi Cowboy.

Its funny to hear them yak about in Thai

My lady says.

How you know? How you know?

I do threetimes now.

No problems.

I'm not being judgemental.

But the visa office staff certainly can be.

If the gf walks in showing 3 yards of bosom, g banger, and maybe 30,000 baht of body art...

Not helping the case is it?

Took my GF back to Australia a few months ago. Found it all straightforward for a sponsored visa.

I had to show proof of savings and she had to show legit reasons to return like letters from work confirming employment, leave approval etc.
Forbes *******
Took me two weeks, no need to mention me. Letter from employment, proof of funds.. last year very easy

it might be good to travel with her to some countries around S/E Asia too, just to show she's traveled and went back to thailand :)

Easy as a tourist

It's all about the documentation. If she has things in Thailand like a mortgage, assets etc. things she couldn't just bail on if she wanted to emigrate then it shouldn't be an issue.

Visa cost is about 8,000thb all things considered.

Yes fair one we’ve both never been to Australia we have business in Phuket together so she will be going back lol or I’ll be stringing her up lol but was thinking about it I won’t say nothing because Thai women go mad if you say something to do then not do. Thanks in advance for info...

While this group is about visas for thailand I'd say you're gonna jump thru a fair amount of hoops

BUT

it is not beyond the ability of the average person.

The burden of proof is on your g/f to show she has sufficient thaiz :O err ties to thailand to come back here when the visa is up.
Laurence **********
Same bullshit as getting her into the U.K but not impossible .
