Hi, I applied at the Budapest Embassy, just write it the same way as it is in your passport and you'll be fine. However be prepared to wait for a long time for the approval if you also apply at Budapest Embassy. I applied on December 10. My visa was approved at the end of February. The staff at the embassy said it's normal that approvals take such a long time. I hope yours get approved faster or if you want to make sure maybe it's better to choose another Embassy, there are lots of good tips in this group about where to go. We will get my wife's spousal DTV visa in Indonesia because we can't afford to wait in Budapest another 2-3 months for her approval too.

Thank you, that's a relief to hear that we wouldn't need to line up for a new tm30 for the visa extension too.

Yes, they registered us in the system and we got our tm30 already at the immigration, I was just wondering if we needed a new one for the visa extension too, or if we could use the same one both ed visa and the extension.

Thank you for reminding us, we've already collected our documents and preparing to start the application, there should be still enough time left, I was just confused if they would take my tm30 during the application, so I would need a new one for the visa extension or no.

Update: thanks for the messages, we managed to reach the embassy today, and they confirmed what we suspected, we mixed up my wife's family name with her first name, hence they cancelled her visa and we need to start a new application paying the application fee again, and she said they would finish it in 5-10 working days. After asking about my 8-week waiting time for my visa, they said that I might get it earlier, or maybe even later, the woman on the phone suggested that I write an e-mail to the embassy that my flight is in September. An hour after the phone call, my visa application was suddenly approved. They gave us a good scare yesterday, but if we don't mess up my wife's second application, then everything should be fine for our September arrival.

it would be a great option if we only stayed short term, but we were planning on staying for 3 months

If it's true, I can't say I blame them. It just sucks for us applying from here.

Yeah, I know it is a long shot, I was just wondering if maybe somebody got similar messages back when applying for e-visa, in any case, I will keep this post updated, maybe others can learn from our experience in the future.
