Hi guys,
we're currently on a 60-day tourist visa in Chiang Mai, and planning on applying for education visas, and we also need a 30-day extension on our tourist visas. As far as I understand for both of these we will need a TM30 from immigration, and my question is do we need to apply for two separate TM30s or can we just use photocopies of the TM30 and use one to apply both for the education visa and for the visa extension? Also, how long before our 60-day visa expires should we go to immigration to apply for extension?
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about applying for an education visa and a 30-day extension on their tourist visa while in Chiang Mai, Thailand. They questioned whether they needed to apply for two separate TM30s or if photocopies could be used for both applications. Comments suggested that visa extensions should be applied for when there are around 45 days or less remaining on the current visa, and that a TM30 should already be filed by their hotel or landlord. It's emphasized that making copies of the TM30 is acceptable, but the user should allow sufficient time for their school to complete the paperwork for the education visa.
