As mentioned, CA is a different world and I have lived in San Jose and worked several years in Silicon Valley/Palo Alto/San Ramon as I’m high tech and SV was where the $$$ were. Overall, we agree, just in different ways. My ex is also a PhD and tenured Professor as a 2nd career. Comfortable gig. All politics suck and one of my friends worked with Trump in the West Wing, quickly resigned early in the first term and calls the most evil person he has ever met. No other way around it, but most elected Republicans now ignore and overlook what was a clear attempt to overthrow the gov’t. That’s when they lost my vote
