It’s so sad that there are many people that don’t understand the basics of Thailand and how owning a business works.
If you do not know it is best to say nothing. There are MANY small business share holders here that do not work and are not required to have any type of work permit.
The only guaranteed thing is that you cannot work in ANY capacity.
You can own a home here and rent it out (condo or lease) and that money is not considered income (but could be taxable) as well, so many people just blindly writing what they THINK rather than what is true.
My advice is don’t open a coffee shop, most lose money. But if you do, I wish you luck.
What is the country of entry you will use? You need to apply through there system, VFS have nothing to do with the actual visa so each country may have slightly different requirements when applying but you must enter through the country of application and then it is approved or denied by THAT country. VFS just processes the paperwork on behalf of the country you make application do but don’t make the decision.
Also be aware the UK isnt in Schengen, so you can’t visit the UK unless you also have a UK visa, and if you do that and your return flight is from a Schengen. Putney you would require a multiple entry Schengen visa.
Application must be made outside, but entry shouldn’t be a problem as you would be entering on an exemption. However you would need to leave and re enter for it to kick in.
The biggest problem in my mind is if you apply by way of agent or VPN while in the country when re-entering, immigration can see you where in the country when application was made, and that could possibly cause some issues, although not heard of it happening, it doesn’t mean it can’t.
The gym has to be a registered business for this purpose. If not his application will be rejected. Best to find a person that has already used a gym and been successful.
Also remember he can make the application while IN Thailand. Don’t can get a little complicated as he will have to leave to apply.
