Here's a late update....Korat immigration just phoned me and they wanted my arrival-departure card number/date..& my current retirement extension date. (I am lucky that my lady partner has Thai army connections who visited Korat immigration on my behalf) I now have my receipt of TM 30 notification so am a happy chappy.
Thank you for your advice.. The loss of the combination of income + bank balance is what has caused my problems. I have 10 months to try and solve what to do.
Marty Pollard Marty, there are problems that need solving. What about a Rig worker (with a Thai wife) who works

? Visa exempt is perfect. What about UK/Aussie expats that get pensions paid every 28 days....average monthly income could be more than 40,000..but that includes 1 month where you get paid twice. These things are not being considered by immigration. What if I had a Thai wife who is also earning a good salary? It's like a raffle!
Over 50. I was considering getting married, but I have already defaulted on the 12 months of 40,000 monthly income ....I thought it was an 'average' of 40,000 per month, I transferred 76,000 in January but only 26,000 in February. I know the IO will say 'No good' ...I'm not going to get married and then have my extension denied. I don't want to live with 'Will they approve, won't they approve' at the discretion of an IO, for the next 10 months. It's all vey stressful.
