unfortunately here doctors are not willing to put their license on the line even for a generic looking, ridiculous form going to an embassy. They want to run tests before signing anything.
I’ve considered a tourist visa but then I’ll need to purchase a round trip flight, try to open a Thai bank account and transfer funds. Overall probably spend more money and time at immigration.
hi Bob. Do you know if Thai banks will allow opening an account with a 90 day non-O visa? It’s needed for transferring the required amount to apply for the 1 year. Thanks
Thanks for sharing your experience, glad your procedure was a success. Just a question… clearly your condition was pre-existing, but if you had a retirement visa which requires Thai medical insurance would that have covered some of the costs?
thanks for the advice. You do make some good points but I’d rather not need to transfer the relatively large sum of money to a Thai bank just yet. Haven’t checked the health insurance rates yet but I’m sure they’ll be significantly less than here in the states. At least initially I think it’s good to have insurance. Thanks
