Should I book a flight for 90 days with a TR visa in Thailand?

Hello everyone,

I’m coming soon with a TR visa (60 day + 30 day extension). Should I purchase my flight for a 90 day duration? I don’t know if immigration will cause problems since technically it’s a 60 day visa with optional extension. Definitely makes more sense than to have to change my return flight once I’m there. Thanks for any advice

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is uncertain about booking a flight for 90 days while holding a TR visa, which allows for a 60-day stay plus a 30-day extension. Responses indicate that immigration typically does not raise concerns about this situation because the TR visa can legally be extended. However, airlines may require a return or onward flight within the visa's timeframe, which could complicate boarding. Additionally, experiences shared by others suggest that booking one-way flights is possible.

I'm in process of applying for same, is quarantine included in 60 day or 60 day plus, also do you need invite letter that visa application asks for !

thank you 😊🙏

They won’t bother as you can legally extend for 30 days from end of your visa

Immigration generally wouldn’t care. They know you can extend in country. Your airline could be the hang up. Many won’t let you board if you don’t have a return or onward flight within the timeframe of your visa.

It doesn’t have to be a return flight. Any onward ticket will suffice. A cheap ticket to a neighbouring country will do, or use one of the onward flight sellers on the internet for $10 bucks for a fake one.
