hi Jason I'm not sure that it matters as I have flown from uk via dubai aswell and still used uk as my starting point and then used the flight number from dubai to bangkok as the arrival flight, again never a problem. From my perspective since I live in the uk not dubia or doha then if there was an issue i dont want to be returned to my transfer airport but to my country of origin which is the uk, thats the reason I always say uk is where I started my journey

You will find the biggest issue is the airline since if you are now allowed into thailand when you arrive it is at there cost to take you home so they typically ask to see that you have onward travel or return ticket within the 60 days. It is a requirement at immigration as well although most of the time they dont ask.

I have flown many times from uk via doha and always put from UK as that was the start of my journey then I put the flight number as that from Qatar to bangkok. Every time it has been accepted

If you like to visit thailand as.much as you do and you dont want a non o retirement visa then I would suggest you look into a DTV soft power 5 year visitor visa which allows 180 days stay per visit so you can come and go as much as you like without the concerns you raise.

Gary thats not required as a sponsor for a visitors visa, the 27k is if she wants to stay in the uk and work towards being a permanent resident. The sponsor needs to show enough money to cover her stay so that there is no impact on uk government finances
