I thought about that and that is what I am going to do. I have some US currency now anyway. I’ll try my bank card in Bangkok and credit card in Bangkok. I just haven’t used them in so long not sure if they require pin number etc so want to make sure they work before hitting atm in Japan.

I take it places like super rich won’t put charge on credit card for cash but only exchange currencies. IE baht for dollars?

You might try Mint Mobile. There very cheap and can call international. I would advise you keep your ATT plan for a couple of months then switch.
