What are the best methods of finding agents for various needs like opening a bank account or doing a border bounce? What should a person be wary of or general questions to ask. Just looking for some broad suggestions as I know this is a very general question. The reason I ask is many people state best method is to get an agent but don’t discuss how to get an agent. Thanks!

Border bounce company is essentially a shared taxi, if close to a border with public transport routes it can be done on your own for a fraction of the price

You never opened a bank account in your life? If not, google the requirements. Or take the hand of a nurse

I hear it is difficult on Tourist Visa and just getting opinions on agents.

that's Thai law. As a tourist you don't need a bank account in Thailand, because you're only for some days here.

You don’t need an agent to do border bounce!

Easy to do ur own

It is recommended if you have a history of staying in Thailand medium to long term on tourism entry stamps (and extensions)

Take control of your own life, it isn’t that complicated.

Anyway you have to provide the same papers to the agent, as to the authority.

It could also be benifical, to dive in to the previous posts.

With both the situations you described, I presume you pay the agent on the day (certainly opening a bank account), so asking online for recommendations seems the obvious method as there's little risk. I did it on my own, but that's what I would do now. If they asked for money in advance I would walk away.

Do it yourself. Yes you may wait a bit as all thais do, but a guy at immigration a few years back said he had been using an agent for years

His wife suggested if he's going to LIVE IN the culture, he should be patient, and PARTICIPATE IN IT.

now he does himself.

thanks Steve, but I have never used an agent.

I was replying to the person that posted. It seems that opening a bank account on a tourist visa is virtually impossible now without using an agent. It took a lot of persistence a couple of years ago when I did it, but it's even more challenging now.

I do agree with you that people seem to use agents for things that are very simple though.

spoke to my banker yesterday about just this for a friend....he said same thing

did your banker say if he would open account for a person here on a visa exemption?
Steve **********
@William *******
I have over the years had friends visit and accompanied them to my bank ( who know me ) and they opened accounts with min bal and 200 baht for ATM card with no problem..its been a few years since last, so maybe things changed

Just type in visa agent in your area

Don't listen to special forces guy in bar that killed Osama. Best do proper research 😅 ask on groups for recommendations others have actually used.

more bar phonys than bargirls

yes , fkd up in home countries try reinvent themselves here. Must be most millionaires here nursing same beer 2 hours wearing stinking clothes 😅😅

@Jim **********
yes a fair share. But most are retirees looking for quieter, peaceful life in the tropics.

The former you see in the Pattaya bars at AM opening, and throughout day.

Have met many very interesting people just wanting to avoid the politics, crime, and foolishness of western life.

I went to Krungsri Bank and told them I wanted to transfer 5 million baht so I could purchase a condo. They couldn't open the account quick enough. Decline the insurance they try to sell you. Make sure you are well-dressed and clean-shaven when you go in.

@Mark *******
good reminder : well dressed and clean shaven is so obvious .

incredible so many people still have to be told .

last time I flew by plane there was a guy wearing shorts a slippers . of course not shaven .

how recently?

@Stuart **********
5 years ago however I opened a Bangkok Bank ac 3 month ago using same procedure.
Stuart ***********
@Mark *******
things were different 5 years ago. You have a long term visa now and lots of evidence to ensure a bank will open another account.

I opened an account 2 years ago without using an agent and have subsequently opened extra accounts recently too.
Mark ********
@Stuart **********
You don't know what my visa status is. When I opened my BB account I showed them nothing. I told them I wanted to send 5 million baht across. Simple.
Stuart ***********
@Mark *******
okay, what's your visa status?

What did they ask for?

Nothing or maybe your passport?
Andy **********
@Stuart **********
mark Jacobs they don't just let you open an account because you have had a shave and got a nice clean shirt on, if you meet the criteria, you can turn up in your bermuda shorts and Chang beer vest, there is another guy in these groups that always comments when anyone posts about needing a bank account, "I'm a physician and I dressed as such" the bank don't care, and why would any bank be so excited for you to deposit ฿5 million into an account, and then proceed to withdraw it by buying a condo.🤷🙆🤦

@Andy *********
Wow, you’re right. It really is a reoccurring theme. 😂😂🤣💀
Giorgio ******
so many good agents everywhere .
Nick ************
@Giorgio *****
your reply was exactly what the OP did not want.
Bob **********
Don’t want to name them but if in pattaya there’s a company with a VIP Van on soi 6 that are excellent about 3700 for a bounce
Keith ********
Never have used a agent , suggest do it yourself , not hard to do , ask questions here and at your Thai embassy in your home country
Steve **********
@Keith *******
absolutely
Terary **********
What has worked for me in the past, is posting to this group recommendations for agents in my area. Additionally, I will ask around fellow expats.
John **********
If you get any recommendation for an agent, take the time to look up the company and read the reviews.
Shaughn ***********
To find a border bounce company just google "Bangkok border run" (replace city with where you are).
David *******
Depends where you are in Thailand.

If it’s Pattaya then send me a message and I’ll recommend a good agent. I won’t post in the group, sorry.
