Might be worth checking if they will do the 60 day extension because of Covid instead of family. That way you still have your family extension in 'reserve' you know, just in case 😉

If you enter on a 90 day Non Immigrant O visa based on Thai Family, you can visit your local immigration office and extend your stay for 1 year.

Every Immigration office has slightly different requirements, so it's best to visit them and ask what their exact requirements are.

At a minimum you will need the original and 2 copies of each

1. Your passport ID page and any pages with stamps on them. And your TM. 7 departure card.

2. Your marriage certificate/Thai child's Birth Certificate

3. Your wifes Thai ID card or Passport

4. Your wifes Tabien Baan (blue house book)

5. 2 photos of you and your wife together. One inside the house and one outside, showing the house number if possible.

6. A map of where your property your staying in is.

7. Your TM. 30 form.

8. Proof of a minimum ฿400,000 in a Thai bank account in your name for at least 2 months prior to application without going under that amount.

Of course it goes without saying all offices are different, however this was my recent experience. I was actually suggested by Ubon Ratchathani not to waste my 60 day family extension at the moment. Due to them currently being able to offer 60 day extensions without the need for an Embassy letter that is the better offer. And if you return before the end of November, they can issue another. Then you can save your 60 day family extension for a later date.
