Question relating to 60-day extension based on visiting family in Bangkok.

1. Which of the two immigration offices carry out this function and is it possible/necessary to book an appointment online?

2. What documents are required for the application? I do understand that offices operate on different criteria and that I'm advised to pick up the list beforehand, but I'm just preparing now and would appreciate advice from anyone who has done this recently.

3. Does the extension run from the expiry of my current Non O based on marriage, or from the date of application?

Thank you for any assistance

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a 60-day extension based on visiting family in Bangkok on a Non-O visa (marriage), you must visit the main immigration office at Chaengwattana. It's not necessary to book an appointment; you simply show up and wait your turn. You will need to prepare documents including copies of passport pages, TM30 receipt, your lease agreement, your spouse's Thai ID and house book, marriage certificate, and a filled-out TM7 form. The extension is added starting from the expiry date of your current stamp.

Of course it goes without saying all offices are different, however this was my recent experience. I was actually suggested by Ubon Ratchathani not to waste my 60 day family extension at the moment. Due to them currently being able to offer 60 day extensions without the need for an Embassy letter that is the better offer. And if you return before the end of November, they can issue another. Then you can save your 60 day family extension for a later date.

The officers exact words were 'we are here to help you'

good point about getting the 60 day 'no embassy letter' extensions rather than burning the 60 day visit thai family extension (y)

you use the immigration office in the area where you live but yes they should all offer the 60 day visit family extension if you meet the requirements

If you are on a Non-O visa/extension based on marriage you go to the main immigration office at Chaengwattana to apply for the 60 day visit thai family extension. It is added to the expiration date of your current stamp. You cannot book an appointment, you just show up queue up and wait your turn in section L-1.

Usual documents are copies of the relevant pages in your passport, your TM30 receipt, your lease, your wife's thai i/d and house book listing, the thai marriage documents and a filled out TM7.

. Out of passing interest, is it necessary to have the pictures/map of your home or is that only for the 12-month extension?

@Bobby *******
as a rule you do not need the photos of you and your wife standing in front of the address numbers or the in the house photos OR the hand drawn map to your house..

I only heard that requirement for the extension of stay based on marriage.
