This is a repost of my reply to someone earlier. It was stressful:
I had read horror stories about ppl leaving with issues. It's not uncommon. I was pulled out of line in Suvarnabhumi and asked a million questions. How long I'm here, my address in America. I've been here for medical/tourism. Anyway I ended up having to show my appointments at Bangkok Hospital as well as Bangkok Catholic Hospital. I thankfully keep my pdfs in my Google drive so I just started giving all information.
The 2nd agent, yes I was questioned by 2. Asked why I didn't get a tourist visa? I told him I'm moving back to Cambodia so I didn't see the need too. Since I'm coming back to get everything finalized. He smiled and agreed, I had emails back and forth from real estate agents in Siem Riep and Phnom Penh to back that up. As well as proof of my SSD pension from the US. He said if I fly back in I'll need a tourist visa or the letter from the hospital I'm visiting here.
This is why I was stressing...being treated like a criminal is not fun. Before anyone asks I came back to Thailand from KL on a tourist visa in August. I have not had any issues till this 1 day overstay. Glad I'm moving come January I can't deal with the headaches of worrying if my tourist visa will be denied or if I apply for an extension will this be denied. It's happening everyday. I'm one of those who don't really quality for the longterm visas, I'm not old enough for retirement although I'm literally retired on Disability. Anyway that's the way it went down today. Thankfully it wasn't worse.

Wow. Thanks for the information. Great to know for next time if I happen to overstay. I was cutting the boarding time close so I was worried. At Siem Riep international now and Lanmei airlines asked for ticket for ticket leaving Thailand. I hadn't booked since I plan to extend, so they asked for proof of funds which I had. Never been asked for either of these. Yet I usually have one of them. We'll see how landing goes. 🤞
